The shooting occurred near the end of the parade in downtown Kansas City that was celebrating the Chiefs' second straight Super Bowl victory.
Kansas City Police spokesperson Alayna Gonzalez said on Thursday three people—two juveniles, one adult—were initially taken into custody, but the adult was released.
Gonzalez said the two juveniles were being held in custody while they worked "with juvenile prosecutors to review investigative findings and determine applicable charges."
Authorities noted the shooting appears to have stemmed from a dispute among several people.
The shooting left one person dead and 22 others injured. Elizabeth "Lisa" Lopez-Galvan, who worked for a local radio station in Kansas City, was identified as the victim who died.
Police believe the victims in the shooting range between eight to 47 years old. At least 12 of the victims are children, with more than half of the victims being under the age of 16.
Police officials announced on Friday the two juveniles are being held on gun-related and resisting arrest charges. They are being held in a juvenile detention center, with additional charges expected as the police investigation continues.
A GoFundMe page was set up on Thursday for Lopez-Galvan's family. It had a target goal of $75,000 to "provide vital financial support to her family." It has far exceeded that goal with more than 3,000 donations, including two separate $50,000 donations from Taylor Swift.
