Bucks' Giannis Won't Rule out Competing in Future 3-point Contest: 'Never Say Never'
Giannis Antetokounmpo has all but eliminated the three-point shot from his arsenal this season, but he's not ruling out someday entering the NBA's Three-Point Contest.
"Never say never," Antetokounmpo told Nick DePaula of Boardroom. "Because I really believe in my hard work. I believe I work my butt off. You never know man."
Antetokounmpo is a career 28.5 percent shooter from distance, so he has a ton of work to do if he wants to compete against the league's best shooters. He is also averaging just 1.8 attempted threes per game, his lowest since the 2015-16 season.
Giannis isn't a stranger to All-Star Saturday night. He's competed multiple times in the Skills Challenge and was knocked out in the first round of the 2015 Slam Dunk Contest.
That said, it would be a pretty major stretch for him to try his hand against top shooters.
Two of Antetokounmpo's Bucks teammates, Damian Lillard and Malik Beasley, will compete in this year's contest on Saturday night. Lillard is the defending champion in the event.
Jalen Brunson, Tyrese Haliburton, Lauri Markkanen, Donovan Mitchell, Karl-Anthony Towns and Trae Young are also set to participate.
The NBA will also hold a special three-point competition between Stephen Curry and the WNBA's Sabrina Ionescu.
