Celtics' Jaylen Brown out vs. Mikal Bridges, Nets with Shoulder Injury
The Boston Celtics announced Jaylen Brown will miss Wednesday night's game against the Brooklyn Nets due to a right shoulder contusion.
The veteran wing had initially been listed as questionable. He logged nearly 38 minutes and finished with 19 points and four assists in Tuesday's 118-110 road victory over Brooklyn.
The Celtics continue rolling with seven wins in their last eight games. At 42-12, they hold a six-game lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers for the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
Brown's contributions have played a role in Boston emerging as the championship favorite at the midway point of the campaign. Through 50 appearances, he's averaging 22.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists while shooting 49.2 percent from the floor.
The 27-year-old punched his ticket to the 2024 All-Star Game as a reserve, his third career nod, and he's one of four players competing in the Slam Dunk Contest.
Head coach Joe Mazzulla will be without the services of another key rotation piece Wednesday as Al Horford is nursing a big toe sprain. Boston will also have to continue waiting on midseason acquisitions Jaden Springer and Xavier Tillman to make their respective debuts.
Brown's absence will likely elevate Sam Hauser to the starting lineup. His ability to move over and play the 4 is beneficial, too, with Horford unavailable.
