
Police: 1 Dead, Multiple People Injured After Shooting at Chiefs' Super Bowl Parade
Kansas City Police announced that gunshots were fired around Union Station in Kansas City on Wednesday at the conclusion of the Super Bowl parade celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Kansas City Fire Department announced one person was killed, according to ABC News.
Police held a press conference and told reporters 22 people in total were shot, eight of whom suffered immediately life-threatening injuries and seven of whom suffered life-threatening injuries. They also said three suspects were detained.

"A Children's Mercy Hospital Kansas City spokesperson told reporter Caroline Hogan the hospital is treating 12 patients—11 are kids and nine have gunshot wounds," per KSHB 41.
All patients at Children's Mercy are expected to make a full recovery, Vice President of Nursing Stephanie Meyer told reporters, per Jessica McMaster of KSHB 41.
According to Kansas City Police, shots were fired west of Union Station near the garage.
Police added that all Chiefs players, coaches and staff were accounted for, and the team confirmed as much with a statement:

Police asked everyone to avoid the Union Station parking garage area so first responders had a clear path through to help the victims.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and tight end Travis Kelce both posted on social media in the aftermath of the shooting, while the NFL released a statement:
Rick Burkholder, who is the Chiefs' head athletic trainer, also took to social media and said, "My wife and I, along with Coach [Andy] Reid and his family, are safe and on a bus headed to Arrowhead. Thank you KC Police and others."
The gunshots were heard around the end of Wednesday's rally, which was celebrating the Chiefs' 25-22 overtime victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Sunday's Super Bowl LVIII.
There was a parade and celebration during which multiple players, including Mahomes, addressed the crowd.
