My Dead Friend Zoe is a dark comedy about "a U.S. Army veteran, the dead best friend she can't let go and her estranged grandfather." The movie, which stars Ed Harris, Sonequa Martin-Green and Natalie Morales, is still seeking a distributor for a wider release.
Tatiana Siegel of Variety noted the film cost less than $10 million to make, and it was financed in part from the Inflation Reduction Act signed into law by President Joe Biden in August 2022.
Kelce, green energy entrepreneur Mike Field and Ray Maiello are among the producers on the film. Siegel also wrote that the trio is working together to finance a documentary titled King Pleasure about artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Speaking to reporters leading up to the Super Bowl last week, Kelce explained he was waiting until the end of the NFL season to start having talks with Hollywood about various projects.
"I'll dabble into everything though just to see if I have fun doing it," he said. "And I know there's definitely Hollywood talks out there, but I've been focused on football throughout the season so I'll probably have a lot of those meetings and conversations when it is all said and done."
Even though there was talk about Kelce possibly retiring after this season, he dismissed that notion after the Chiefs' victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night.
Still, the 34-year-old is clearly planning the next phase of his life with all of his business moves outside football. He hosts a podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce, and has dipped his toe into acting by hosting Saturday Night Live and signed with Hollywood agency CAA for all of his off-field representation.
