Andy Reid: Chiefs Would 'Love' to Sign Chris Jones to New Contract in NFL Free Agency
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said at his end-of-season press conference on Tuesday that the team would "love" to have defensive lineman Chris Jones back.
"Yeah, listen, I think [general manager Brett Veach] has said it before, we'd love to have him back, and they're just got to work all that out," Reid said, per NFL.com's Eric Edholm. "But I think the effort will be there probably on both parts to try and get something done."
Jones, a five-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, just completed his eighth NFL season (all with the Chiefs).

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
Jones signed a four-year, $80 million deal with the Chiefs in 2020. Prior to entering the final year of his contract, Jones held out off all offseason activities and training camp in hopes of landing a more lucrative agreement. He even held out of the team's Week 1 game against the Detroit Lions.
Ultimately, Jones returned after sitting out one week and inked a reworked contract for one year, worth up to $25 million.
The Chiefs could place the franchise tag on Jones for 2024, but that would cost the team $32.4 million. A multi-year deal to keep Jones in town would obviously be ideal, especially after he posted another great season.
Jones finished with 29 quarterback hits and 10.5 sacks. He also delivered one of the Chiefs' biggest defensive plays of the year, when his pressure on San Francisco 49ers quarterback. Brock Purdy prevented a potential touchdown pass to Jauan Jennings in the Super Bowl.
We'll see what happens soon enough, but Jones has proved his value time and again for the Chiefs en route to helping them win four AFC titles and three Super Bowls. After helping land another Lombardi Trophy in Kansas City, Jones is certainly getting a huge payday somewhere.
