Alex Cora on Possibly Managing Red Sox In 2025: 'I Don't Want to Talk About That'
As the Boston Red Sox prepare for the 2024 season, manager Alex Cora isn't focusing on his future.
When asked on Tuesday if he hopes to return as Red Sox manager in 2025, Cora told reporters, "I don't want to talk about that right now."
The Red Sox are coming off their second straight 78-84 campaign and have missed the playoffs in four out of the last five seasons. Cora, who took over the team for the second time in 2021 after previously serving as manager from 2018-19, went on to explain that his goal is to help Boston get back to the postseason.

"I don't want this season to be about me. This is about the Boston Red Sox and how we need to bounce back to be better and play in October," he said. "Obviously, it's something that's gonna come up through the season and I respect that. But I really don't want to talk too much about it."
The Red Sox didn't make many significant roster additions this offseason. Their prized free-agent signing was starting pitcher Lucas Giolito, who is coming off an abysmal 2023 season split between the Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Angels and Cleveland Guardians. Boston is hoping he will bounce back to the form that earned him an All-Star selection in 2019.
The most important moves for the Red Sox came in the front office, as they hired Craig Breslow as chief baseball officer and reunited with former general manager Theo Epstein, who joined the team's ownership group in an advisory role.
Depending on how the 2024 season goes, both Cora and the Red Sox could have decisions to make moving forward.
