Patrick Mahomes Says Chiefs 3-Peat Would Be 'Legendary': 'No One's Ever Done It'
Patrick Mahomes has his eyes on winning a third consecutive Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs, a feat that has yet to be achieved in NFL history.
"It [would be] legendary,'' Mahomes said on Monday, per ESPN's Adam Teicher. "No one's ever done it and we knew it's legendary to win back-to-back. I think eight other teams have done it. We had heard it all week."
The 28-year-old is already looking towards the future after leading the Chiefs to a 25-22 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 58 on Sunday, earning the third championship of his career.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
He completed 73.9 percent of his throws against the 49ers, passing for 333 yards and two touchdowns against one interception. Mahomes also showcased his mobility both in the pocket and on the run, as his 66 rushing yards were the highest mark on the team. He earned his third Super Bowl MVP Award due to his stellar performance.
He doesn't seem to be resting on his laurels though, already discussing his plan to prepare for the 2024 season and help the Chiefs defend their title.
"We've got to continue to play our best football," said Mahomes, via Teicher. "We'll celebrate these next few weeks and then we'll get right back at it."
The last team to win consecutive Super Bowls was the New England Patriots, who won titles in 2004 and 2005 before falling in the divisional round of the playoffs to the Denver Broncos the following year.
The closest that an organization has gotten to a three-peat after winning two Super Bowls is the conference championship game, which has been achieved by the Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers, and 49ers. The Chiefs could certainly surpass that threshold, as they've advanced beyond the AFC Championship game in four of the past five years.
Even if Kansas City isn't able to win three consecutive titles, Mahomes has already helped establish the team as a modern dynasty.
