NFL Rumors: Eric Bieniemy 'Very Quietly' Spoke to Seahawks About OC Job
While it looks like Eric Bieniemy will not serve as an offensive coordinator in the NFL this season, a fit with the Seattle Seahawks nearly materialized.
In an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Bieniemy was considered as a candidate for the Washington Commanders head coaching position and was also involved with a few open offensive coordinator positions, with the Seahawks being a team Schefter was willing to share.

"There were offensive coordinator jobs that he was very quietly involved with that ultimately he didn't get in the end," Schefter said. "He was a candidate in Seattle, to begin with. That came down to the end there."
Bieniemy served as the Commanders' offensive coordinator for the 2023 season and oversaw a unit that finished the season ranked 25th in scoring and 24th in yards.
While this wasn't necessarily a terrific showing, the offense had a better showing than the Commanders' defense, which ranked last in the league.
Bieniemy's work as the Kansas City Chiefs' offensive coordinator from 2018-2022 is really where he made a name for himself, as he helped the Chiefs become a top offense with Patrick Mahomes at the helm.
It looks like Kansas City could be his destination in a different role in 2024, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, and he could help the franchise in its quest to three-peat as Super Bowl champions. However, a fit in Seattle could have been interesting.
Instead, former Washington Huskies offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb will hold the reins in Seattle while Bieniemy looks for opportunities elsewhere.
