Suns' Nurkić: Warriors' Draymond Green 'Didn't Learn' and Doesn't 'Deserve a Chance'

In their first meeting since Draymond Green hit Jusuf Nurkić, the Phoenix Suns center is skeptical the four-time All-Star changed after his 12-game suspension.

Speaking to reporters after the Suns' 113-112 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night, Nurkić said it was clear to him that Green "didn't learn anything" during his time away and he "doesn't deserve a chance" to redeem himself.

When told about Nurkić's comments, Green responded by saying he wouldn't "walk about quiet like him" because "quiet guys don't win."

During Saturday's game, the two had a brief verbal exchange in the first quarter when Nurkić took exception to how Green was defending him.

Things escalated in the third quarter when Nurkić made the "too small" gesture toward Green and smacked the court after making a shot over him.

Green responded a few minutes later when he made a scoop shot over Nurkić and smacked the court.

In the third quarter of a Dec. 12 game between the Warriors and Suns, Green and Nurkić were fighting for position on an inbounds pass. Green swung his arm and hit Nurkić in the side of the head, sending him to the floor.

The incident led to Green being suspended indefinitely by the NBA. He was also required to meet certain conditions from the league and Warriors before being reinstated.

Green was reinstated on Jan. 6, with the league announcing he had meetings with a counselor and jointly met with representatives from the NBA, NBPA and Warriors. Those joint meetings are expected to continue throughout the season.

The Warriors got the last laugh against Nurkić and the Suns on Saturday. Stephen Curry's three with 0.7 seconds left gave Golden State a 113-112 win. The Warriors have won four straight and six of their last seven games overall.
