NBA Rumors: Nets' Dorian Finney-Smith Interests Bucks at 2024 Trade Deadline
Brooklyn Nets veteran Dorian Finney-Smith remains one of the hottest names on the trade market ahead of the Feb. 8 deadline.
The Milwaukee Bucks "have a level of interest" in Finney-Smith, according to NBA insider Marc Stein. SNY's Ian Begley first reported that the Bucks "continued to show strong interest" in Finney-Smith dating back to late last week.
Milwaukee could use some added defensive depth following a rough start to the season in that department. The team ranks 19th in the league in defensive rating, even after parting ways with Adrian Griffin and replacing him with Doc Rivers.

Finney-Smith, who is averaging 9.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 42 games while shooting 41.2 percent from the floor and 38.3 percent from deep, is a solid role-player who can defend multiple positions.
Because of that, it appears Brooklyn's asking price for the veteran has been set pretty high. According to HoopsHype's Michael Scotto, the Nets are looking for a "future first-round pick starting in 2025 or beyond that has a chance to be a potential Top 20 pick" in exchange for Finney-Smith.
It's no surprise the Nets are seeking valuable assets this winter as they aim to rebuild after parting ways with Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving in a short span of time. That trio was supposed to help Brooklyn contend for a title, but due to injuries, they were never able to develop any sort of chemistry during their short stay with the franchise.
The Bucks, meanwhile, sit third in the Eastern Conference with a 33-17 record after acquiring Damian Lillard over the summer and pairing him with Giannis Antetokounmpo. They're hoping to contend for a title this year, though that'll be hard to do if they don't add some more depth at the deadline.
However, the Bucks aren't alone in their pursuit of Finney-Smith, who has also drawn "significant interest" this winter from teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks, according to Scotto.
With just two days until the trade deadline, the trade market is likely to heat up, and it'll be interesting to see if the Bucks make any additions.
