Report: Giants' Mike Kafka Interests Seahawks as OC Candidate Under Mike Macdonald
As new Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald looks to fill out his staff, poaching an offensive coordinator from an NFC foe may be an option.
Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reported that New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka could be an option to fill the same role with the Seahawks.

Another option is current Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, who notably was the offensive coordinator for the University of Washington in 2022 and 2023. Jones reported that he "wouldn't discount" Kafka as a contender for the position and that there is "interest" between Kafka and the Seahawks.
Kafka interviewed for the Seahawks head coaching job and notably was a finalist, but would eventually lose out to Macdonald.
Kafka has been the Giants offensive coordinator since 2022. He had previously served in several offensive coaching positions with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2017 to 2021 and began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Northwestern, his alma mater.
Before his coaching career, Kafka played in the NFL from 2010-2015 and had stints on the active roster for the Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He worked with Patrick Mahomes during his time as quarterbacks coach for the Kansas City Chiefs and helped Daniel Jones put together a solid 2022 season for the Giants. While New York regressed in 2023, he still helped get some production out of Tommy DeVito and Tyrod Taylor after Jones suffered a season-ending injury.
He was the only coordinator who was retained by the Giants following a 6-11 season but could potentially leave anyway and join Macdonald's staff. Seattle went 9-8 in 2023 and missed the postseason.
