Seahawks Rumors: 'There's Hope' Leonard Williams, SEA Can Agree to Contract Extension
After being acquired in a midseason trade, Leonard Williams and the Seattle Seahawks have a shared interest in extending their partnership.
Per The Athletic's Jeff Howe, "there's hope" the Seahawks and Williams will come to terms on a long-term contract this offseason.
Williams was traded from the New York Giants to the Seahawks on Oct. 30. He became the first NFL player since 1930 to appear in 18 regular-season games.

Ranking Every NFL Defense After 2026 Draft 📊
The Seahawks had Williams start all 10 games he played for them after the deal. He tied for second on the team in tackles for loss (nine), ranked fourth in quarterback hits (11) and sixth in sacks (four).
One big reason the Seahawks might want to retain Williams is because of new head coach Mike Macdonald. He's coming from a situation as defensive coordinator with the Baltimore Ravens with talent and depth at all three levels.
There's quality young talent on Seattle's defensive line, particularly Boye Mafe. He had a terrific second season with 16 quarterback hits and nine sacks. The lack of depth around him has hindered the overall production of the defense.
Williams will turn 30 in June, but he continues to play at a high level. The Seahawks might be able to sign him to a relatively affordable deal and look to find his eventual successor at some point in the draft.
All of this depends on what Macdonald's vision for the roster is going to be. If the Seahawks are hoping to keep Williams, it seems to indicate they value him and what he will bring to the defense in a new scheme next season.
The Seahawks are looking to improve after missing the playoffs this season, despite finishing with a winning record (9-8) for the second consecutive year.
