Gardner Minshew on Colts Return in 2024 NFL FA: 'That's Something They Gotta Tell Me'

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Gardner Minshew revealed on Friday that his future with the organization is currently up in the air as he's set to enter free agency.

"Ain't no tellin' man, ain't no tellin'," Minshew said when asked about his destination in 2024, per Grant Gordon of NFL.com. "That's something they gotta tell me, that free agency stuff."

The 27-year-old was named to the Pro Bowl on Friday as an alternate. After taking over the full-time starting job in Week 6 after rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson's season-ending surgery to repair an injury to his throwing shoulder, Minshew helped keep the Colts in the AFC playoff hunt despite their eventual elimination in Week 18.

Despite some initial struggles, the 27-year-old performed admirably down the stretch of the regular season while Indianapolis won six of its final nine games. Over that nine-game span, Minshew completed 61.5 percent of his throws for 1,905 yards and eight touchdowns compared to four interceptions.

While he wasn't single-handedly beating teams with his arm, the former sixth-round pick provided steady play under center and helped the Colts' No. 10 rushing attack flourish. Despite acknowledging the possibility of a change of scenery next season, Minshew was filled with gratitude about his time in Indianapolis.

"Just super grateful, man," he said, per Gordon. "Had a lot of good people around me this year. Loved it, man. Just super proud of the season we had, the work we put in and, man, just loved the guys we had and wish it would've never ended."

While a return to the Colts likely isn't out of the question, he's played well enough to warrant a new deal worth much more than his $3.5 million salary in 2023 (via Spotrac). With Indianapolis expecting to have $66.4 million in cap space to utilize during the offseason, the front office could still bring him back for a modest price if an opposing team doesn't lure him away with a potential starting spot.
