Michael Jordan's Signed, Game-Worn Sneakers from NBA Title Clinchers Sell for $8M

If you've ever wondered what it would cost to own one of Michael Jordan's game-worn shoes from each of the six clinching games in the NBA Finals, the answer is $8 million.

According to Darren Rovell, the six shoes worn by Jordan in the deciding games of the NBA Finals from 1991 to '93 and 1996 to '98 were auctioned off by Sotheby's after being purchased by a collector from former Bulls public relations director Tim Hallam.

It's not a surprise that Jordan items have been among the most valuable pieces of sports memorabilia by any athlete in history.

The shoes Jordan wore during Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals sold for $2.2 million at auction last April. The final price surpassed the previous record for a pair of shoes auctioned off at $1.47 million, which were worn by Jordan during his rookie season with the Bulls.

Jordan's jersey from Game 1 of the '98 Finals against the Utah Jazz holds the all-time record for game-worn sports memorabilia with a sale price of $10.1 million.

The collection of six shoes from Jordan's series-clinching NBA Finals games came fairly close to reaching the $10 million mark.

Per ABC 7 in Chicago, the set was called "The Dynasty Collection" and Sotheby's estimated its value between $7-10 million.

The Bulls defeated the Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns, Seattle SuperSonics and Jazz during their run of six titles in eight seasons. Game 6 of the '98 Finals looked like it was going to be the final game of Jordan's NBA career.

After a three-year retirement, Jordan returned to the league as a player in September 2001 with the Washington Wizards. He played two years with the club before retiring for good following the 2002-03 season.
