Ravens' Marlon Humphrey Says Bill Belichick Isn't GOAT After Failing to Land HC Job
Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey fired off a scorching hot take after legendary head coach Bill Belichick didn't land an NFL coaching job this offseason.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Washington Commanders are hiring Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, taking care of the last remaining vacancy.
Humphrey appeared to argue Belichick's case to be the greatest NFL coach ever was jeopardized by him getting frozen out:

Selecting the greatest anything in a sport is always a subjective measure, so it's reasonable to argue Belichick hasn't earned that title among NFL coaches.
Pointing toward his unemployment status or even the four years after Tom Brady left the New England Patriots and retrospectively questioning the 71-year-old's legacy is unduly harsh, though.
Just like with a Hall of Fame player who hangs on for too long, things rarely wrap up well for a head coach who has anywhere near the same longevity as Belichick.
Firing Tom Landry was famously Jerry Jones' first big move after he purchased the Dallas Cowboys in 1989. To say Don Shula retired in 1996 is factually correct but ignores the increasing scrutiny he received to set the stage for that. Chuck Noll went eight years without a 10-win season to conclude his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Even Curly Lambeau wasn't afforded a ceremonious exit from the Green Bay Packers in 1950.
At the end of the day, few will remember the Patriots going 4-13 in Belichick's final season or their general mediocrity after Brady's departure. That period will be relegated to a footnote.
If this is it for him as an NFL coach, his 302 wins and eight Super Bowl rings (six as a head coach and two as a defensive coordinator) will speak for themselves.
