Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
The 49ers' 17-point rally tied the largest comeback in NFC Championship Game history, according to the broadcast. San Francisco was also the last team to do it in 2013. The effort was one point shy of tying the overall comeback record in a conference championship game, which is held by the Cincinnati Bengals and Indianapolis Colts (via CBS Sports).
The Lions led 24-7 at halftime, while Purdy threw for just 93 yards to go along with an interception. San Francisco flipped the script in the second half thanks to strong performances in all three phases of the game.
Purdy finished the night with 267 yards and a touchdown as well as the aforementioned pick, rushing for 48 yards on five attempts. All of his yards on the ground came in the second half. NFL fans were pleasantly surprised by his off-script decision-making throughout the final two quarters.
Christian McCaffrey was also a major factor in San Francisco's second-half comeback, recording 90 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. His second score allowed the 49ers to tie the game at 24 apiece, officially erasing the 17-point deficit.
McCaffrey showcased his skills as a dual-threat back, totaling four catches and picking up 42 yards as a receiver. X users were impressed with the dominant performance from the NFL's leading rusher during the regular season.
After falling in the NFC Championship Game in each of the past two years, the 49ers will attempt to win their sixth Super Bowl in franchise history.
