NFL Rumors: Kendall Fuller, Dolphins Agree to 2-Year, $16.5M Contract in Free Agency
Veteran cornerback Kendall Fuller has agreed to a two-year, $16.5 million contract with the Miami Dolphins in free agency following four seasons with the Washington Commanders, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Fuller began his NFL career in Washington after being selected by the franchise in the third round of the 2016 draft out of Virginia Tech.
He spent two seasons with the Commanders before being traded to the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of the 2018 campaign in the deal that sent veteran quarterback Alex Smith to Washington.

Fuller emerged as a solid contributor for Kansas City in 2018 and 2019, posting two interceptions, 14 passes defended, one forced fumble, one sack and 98 tackles in 26 games. He won a Super Bowl title with the franchise during the 2019 campaign.
The 29-year-old hit free agency after the 2019 season and agreed to a four-year deal to return to Washington, where he played some of the best football of his career.
In 62 games between 2020 and 2023, Fuller posted 10 interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns, 49 passes defended, two fumble recoveries, one sack and 193 tackles.
While Fuller had a solid 2023 campaign, posting two interceptions, nine pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and 79 tackles in 15 games, it was clear prior to the season that his time in Washington was coming to an end.
The Commanders selected cornerback Emmanuel Forbes in the first round of the 2023 draft and selected another defensive back in the second round in Quan Martin. Forbes looks primed to take over the starting role in 2024, so it's no surprise the franchise moved on from Fuller.
After releasing Xavien Howard, the Dolphins had a hole to fill at corner back this offseason opposite Jalen Ramsey. In addition to Ramsey, Fuller joins a secondary that includes the newly-signed Jordan Poyer, Jevon Holland and Cam Smith.
After suffering a wild card loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs last season, Miami is hoping to make a much deeper run in 2024. The addition of Fuller to go along with the team's other free-agent signings puts them in a better position to contend.
