Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence Questionable vs. Titans with Shoulder Injury; Could Be GTD

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is expected to be listed as questionable for what could be a must-win Week 18 road game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

According to NFL Network's James Palmer, Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said Lawrence will "most likely" be listed as questionable with a shoulder injury, and he could ultimately be a game-time decision.

Lawrence suffered a sprained throwing shoulder in the Jags' Week 16 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which caused him to miss the first NFL regular-season game of his career last week.

C.J. Beathard started in Lawrence's place and led Jacksonville to a 26-0 shutout of the Carolina Panthers, meaning the Jaguars can clinch the AFC South and a playoff spot with a win over Tennessee on Sunday.

There were high expectations surrounding Lawrence entering this season, as he was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft and led the Jaguars to an AFC South title and a playoff win this season.

He has gone through some ups and downs individually, though, completing 65.5 percent of his passes for 3,736 yards, 19 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, while also rushing for 329 yards and four scores.

Although the numbers aren't eye-popping, the Jags were winning early and often, starting the season 8-3.

Things started to go south in Week 13 when Lawrence suffered an ankle injury late in a home game against the Cincinnati Bengals and was unable to return.

The Jaguars went on to lose that game in overtime, beginning a string of four losses in a row that put their playoff hopes in legitimate doubt.

Lawrence played through injuries during that stretch, but he was unable to give it a go last week against Carolina due to his shoulder. It didn't matter, as the Jacksonville defense shut down Carolina and Beathard did enough to win.

The Jags are favored to beat a 5-11 Titans team that has endured a tough season, but they have nothing to lose and would likely take great pleasure in knocking Jacksonville out of the playoffs.

The Jaguars proved last week that they can win without Lawrence as long as they play strong defense and run the ball effectively with running back Travis Etienne, but Pederson would undoubtedly feel far more comfortable with Lawrence under center.

With a win over Tennessee, Jacksonville will win a second consecutive AFC South title and host the Cleveland Browns in the AFC Wild Card Round.

With a loss, the Jags will miss the postseason unless a backup-laden Baltimore Ravens squad beats the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday and the Las Vegas Raiders defeat the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
