BCS Bowl Picks: Players Who Will Improve Draft Stock During Remaining Bowls
This college football bowl season has been one of the most exciting yet, but luckily for fans, there is plenty more excitement on the way.
The Orange Bowl and the BCS National Championship game will be polar opposite in terms of style, but one thing is sure: They both have a bevy of NFL talent.
Here's a look at three players who could easily improve their NFL draft stock in the coming week.
Andre Ellington, RB, Clemson Tigers
Ellington is a junior and has yet to decide whether or not he's entering the draft, but he has been tremendous this year for Clemson.
He's rushed for 1,062 yards and 10 touchdowns despite missing a bunch of time due to injury. As mostly a speed guy, Ellington will draw interest from teams in the middle of the draft as a third-down back and return specialist.
However, after he puts together a big game tonight against West Virginia in the Orange Bowl, his stock will immediately rise.
Whether he enters or not, that's a different question.
Dont'a Hightower, ILB, Alabama Crimson Tide
Hightower, a fourth-year junior, has been seeing his stock rise all season. He leads the Crimson Tide defense with 81 tackles while chipping in 9.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, an interception and eight QB hurries.
During a game that will highlight so many defensive prospects, Hightower might have a tough time standing out, but the inside linebackers will get to quarterback Jordan Jefferson several times and turn a few heads.
He's projected somewhere around the middle of the second round, but a big game in the National Championship could vault him to the end of the first.
Rueben Randle, WR, LSU Tigers
It's tough to get the respect you deserve as a wide receiver in the SEC. Just ask Alshon Jeffery.
Still, if Randle can put together a big game against Alabama's top-ranked defense, he will finally get the respect he deserves.
At 6'4", he's a big receiver who serves as a nice red-zone threat. Still though, he proved he was also capable of making the big play as he averaged over 18 yards per catch this season.
He's yet another player who can move his stock to the end of the first or early second round with a big game on January 9.
