College Football Recruiting Rankings: Top Schools After Early NSD 2023
The two top teams in the SEC will not be getting weaker anytime soon.
The Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide topped the class of 2024 recruiting rankings after Wednesday's signing day.
In this era of college football, the rankings are basically finalized after the December rankings because of the impact made by the transfer portal and coaching changes.
Georgia or Alabama has finished on top of the recruiting rankings in every year of the last decade, except for one. The Texas A&M Aggies had the No. 1 class in 2022 and now a majority of those top players are in the portal after Jimbo Fisher's firing.
Georgia finished at No. 1 despite losing the commitment of five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola, who flipped to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Alabama finished strong on the recruiting trail to secure the No. 2 spot behind Georgia.

Georgia Lands Top Class Again

Georgia had an interesting final few days before the December signing day.
The Bulldogs lost Raiola in a battle with Nebraska, but they were able to flip five-star safety K.J. Bolden from Florida State.
Bolden's flip gave the Bulldogs a quartet of five-star players in their recruiting class.
Bolden, cornerback Ellis Robinson IV and linebacker Justin Williams are all top 15 players according to the 247 Sports player rankings.
The other five-star recruit, linebacker Chris Cole, is the 39th-ranked player and top player out of Virginia in the class of 2024.
The six best players in Georgia's recruiting class are defensive players. That should not be a surprise given how well the program recruited on that side of the ball under Kirby Smart.
Seven Georgia defensive players were chosen in the first round of the last two NFL drafts, and if the team's defensive success continues, we should see some members of the class of 2024 at the top of the draft in a few years time.
Late Push Secures No. 2 Spot for Alabama

Alabama confirmed its spot behind Georgia in the team rankings with a strong signing day.
Nick Saban's program gained the signatures of four-star running back Kevin Riley and four-star athlete Aeryn Hampton, who were previously committed to Miami and Texas, respectively.
The two new commitments gave Alabama 17 four-star recruits in the class of 2024 to go along with a trio of five-star players.
Quarterback Julian Sayin is the most notable prospect in the class. The California product, who is the No. 21 overall player in the class, is expected to take over after Jalen Milroe leaves following next season.
Alabama's two other top-50 prospects are cornerbacks Jaylen Mbakwe and Zabien Brown. They are ranked second and third at their position.
Alabama also beefed up its interior, as it added three offensive linemen and five defensive linemen as part of its robust class.
The Crimson Tide did not repeat as the top signing class, but the influx of talent into Tuscaloosa is enough to continue competing with Georgia in the revamped SEC.
