Top NFL Draft Prospects Bears Must Watch During 2023-24 CFB Bowl Season
The College Football Playoff semifinals could be vital to the Chicago Bears' NFL draft scouting.
The Bears will likely have two top-10 picks in April, so they will have a ton of top talent to choose from.
Chicago already completed its on-field scouting of Caleb Williams and Drake Maye, the top two quarterbacks in the draft class, and Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.
Williams already opted out of his bowl game and the other two could make that decision as well. All three players should be considered with the No. 1 pick that the Bears currently have through their trade with the Carolina Panthers.
The extensive work during bowl season should come at the Rose and Sugar Bowls so that the Bears have an idea of who the best premier prospects are beneath Williams, Maye and Harrison.
Rome Odunze, WR, Washington
1 of 3
Rome Odunze could go into the draft as the No. 2 wide receiver on most draft boards.
The Washington wide receiver will have at least one more chance to impress NFL scouts during the College Football Playoff.
Odunze has 81 catches for 1,428 yards and 13 touchdowns this season. He produced four straight 100-yard games to close out the regular season and help the Huskies land in the Sugar Bowl.
Odunze's performance against the Texas Longhorns secondary in New Orleans could be notable for the Bears if they win a few more games.
Chicago is still in the hunt for Harrison with its current pair of top-five picks, but if it wins more and drops into the bottom part of the top 10, Odunze could be a target.
The Athletic's Dane Brugler mocked Odunze to the No. 15 pick in November, so he will likely be available if the Bears are in the No.8-15 range with their own first-round pick.
Adonai Mitchell and Xavier Worthy, WR, Texas
2 of 3
Chicago should take a closer look at both of Texas' top wide outs in New Orleans as well.
Xavier Worthy and Adonai Mitchell both have first-round potential and they could make themselves a good amount of money with strong Sugar Bowls.
Both players have at least 50 receptions and 800 receiving yards this season. Mitchell has 10 touchdowns compared to Worthy's five.
The two star players should be targeted by Quinn Ewers on a constant basis as Texas tries to get into the CFB Playoff National Championship Game.
Neither player is a lock to go in the first round yet, but all it takes is one big performance in the playoff to confirm that, just like Quentin Johnston did last season with TCU.
Dallas Turner, EDGE, Alabama
3 of 3
Bears general manager Ryan Poles displayed a commitment to improving the defense in the free-agent and draft markets.
T.J. Edwards and Terrell Edmunds were great free-agent signings at linebacker and the trade for Montez Sweat is paying dividends.
Alabama edge-rusher Dallas Turner could add more tenacity to the Bears defense if they pick him with their second first-round pick.
Brugler projected Turner to be the No. 10 overall selection in his latest mock draft. That position could be elevated with a strong performance against Michigan's rushing attack.
Turner, who has nine sacks this season, has the potential to be all over the Michigan backfield on New Years' Day, and if that is the case, he could prove to the Bears that he needs to be the latest addition to an improving defense.
