Bowl Games 2023-24 Printable Schedule, Latest Odds and Picks For Every Matchup
Player availability is the No. 1 thing that college football bettors have to pay attention to during bowl season.
Two major dominoes fell on Monday, as Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Kyle McCord hit the transfer portal and USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams opted out.
McCord's decision came as a surprise and it puts the Buckeyes at a significant disadvantage for the Cotton Bowl against the Missouri Tigers.
Missouri will have its starting quarterback, Brady Cook, available for the New Years' Six game and that could be the difference that pushes the SEC side to a victory.
Williams' departure to prepare for the 2024 NFL draft, where he could be the No. 1 overall pick, was expected.
Of course, USC's Holiday Bowl matchup with the Louisville Cardinals loses some buzz because of Williams' absence, and because of that the ACC runner-up will be expected to win big.

No. 9 Missouri (+1.5) vs. No. 7 Ohio State
2 of 3
Missouri and Ohio State might have been on an even playing field with McCord on the field.
Mizzou had one of the best offenses this season behind Cook, wide receivers Luther Burden and Theo Wease and running back Cody Schrader.
Cook threw for 3,189 yards, Burden had 1,197 receiving yards, Wease caught six touchdowns and Schrader ran for 1,489 yards and 13 scores.
If all of their stars play, the Tigers had the potential to put up a ton of points on a full strength Ohio State.
The spread could move further in favor of the Tigers if Marvin Harrison Jr. opts out to prepare for the NFL draft.
The Heisman Trophy finalist is projected to be a top-five NFL draft pick and he would not gain anything from playing on December 29.
Ohio State already lost wide receiver Julian Fleming to the transfer portal, so even if Harrison played, the quarterback would be at a disadvantage with a depleted wide receiver corps.
A bet on Missouri seems like the best one to make right now, even if it is three weeks in advance, because the absences should continue to pile up for Ohio State.
No. 15 Louisville (-7.5) vs. USC
3 of 3
The Holiday Bowl meant more to Louisville before Williams opted out.
Louisville experienced a resurgent season, led by head coach Jeff Brohm, and a spot in one of the premier bowl games will be celebrated by the entire program.
The Cardinals did not have the best offensive performance in the ACC Championship Game, but facing the Florida State Seminoles is far different from taking on USC's unit.
USC conceded at least 34 points to all of its opponents from September 30 on. The firing of defensive coordinator Alex Grinch did little to fix the issues.
Louisville's offense could feast on a USC defense that could experience some opt-outs or transfers ahead of the December 27 game in San Diego.
The Cardinals have far more motivation to win than a Williams-less USC with a defense in transition.
