NFL Standings 2023: Week 13 Records, Playoff Scenarios, Wild Card Picture
With 12 weeks of the 2023 NFL campaign completed, we've officially entered scoreboard-watching season.
While no one has secured a playoff spot nor been eliminated from the race just yet, a delineation between the league's haves and have-nots is starting to crystallize.
There's still plenty of jostling to be done, though, so let's dig into the races that will set the Super Bowl LVIII field.

Notable Tiebreakers
2 of 4
With so much congestion in the standings, it comes as little surprise to see so many tiebreaker scenarios being put into play.
In the NFC, the 49ers have the edge on the Lions for the No. 2 seed by way of a superior conference record. However, the difference is only one game (6-1 to 5-2), and Detroit could have a chance to close the gap this week. While San Francisco is traveling to Philadelphia for an NFC Championship rematch, Detroit has a road game against a New Orleans team that has dropped six of its last nine.
Speaking of the Saints, they're on the wrong end of a tiebreaker for the NFC South division lead after falling to the Falcons on Sunday. These teams will lock horns again in Week 18, though, so that game could have major ramifications if the race hasn't been decided by then.
In the AFC, everyone is looking up at the 9-3 Ravens, but the Chiefs, Jaguars and Dolphins are all right on their heels at 8-3.
Kansas City has the edge in that three-team race with wins over both Miami and Jacksonville already. The Chiefs also have a better conference record (6-1) than the Ravens (6-3), so Baltimore can't afford to take its foot off the gas. Miami has the upper hand on Jacksonville by way of a superior strength of victory (.506 to .311).
AFC Wild-Card Race
3 of 4
5. Pittsburgh (7-4)
6. Cleveland (7-4)
7. Indianapolis (6-5)
8. Houston (6-5)
9. Denver (6-5)
10. Buffalo (6-6)
11. Cincinnati (5-6)
12. Las Vegas (5-7)
With just a one-game gap between the Nos. 5 and 9 seeds, no one can feel great about their Wild Card odds in the AFC.
In terms of trends, though, things are sure looking good in Indianapolis and great in Denver.
The Colts have won three consecutive games, and while a break in the schedule has helped with that, they don't exactly face the most daunting closing stretch. Only two of their remaining six games are against teams with winning records, and both will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium: against Pittsburgh in Week 15 and against Houston in Week 18.
The Broncos are even hotter, sporting a five-game winning streak that matches the Eagles for the NFL's best. Staying hot could be challenging, though, with three consecutive road games on the docket, starting in Houston this Sunday and in Detroit in Week 15.
NFC Wild-Card Race
4 of 4
5. Dallas (8-3)
6. Seattle (6-5)
7. Minnesota (6-6)
8. Green Bay (5-6)
9. Los Angeles Rams (5-6)
10. New Orleans (5-6)
11. Tampa Bay (4-7)
Among non-division leaders, the Cowboys are the closest thing you'll find to a playoff lock. Winners of three straight, they're also the proud owners of the league's best point differential at plus-162.
The Seahawks and Vikings both had chances to improve their standings of late, but each has dropped two straight and left the door wide open to the teams behind them.
So, who's capable of making a move and potentially crashing the playoff party?
Well, the Packers and Rams have both put together back-to-back wins. Green Bay has a brutal trip to Kansas City on deck for Week 13, but it could be smooth sailing beyond that, as none of its other remaining opponents has a winning record. Los Angeles, meanwhile, still faces three teams with winning records, including the Ravens (Week 14) and the 49ers (Week 18), both of whom will host those matchups.
