Fantasy Football Big Board: Complete 2023 PPR Player Rankings for Week 13
It's lucky Week 13 in fantasy football leagues. And quite a few fantasy managers could use some luck this week.
It's great if you're 8-4 or better. With just a few weeks to go in the regular season, you have already either locked up a playoff spot or are on the cusp of doing so. If you get another win or two, you might be able to take the first round of the postseason off.
However, for every manager in that advantageous position, there's a 7-5, 6-6 or 5-7 team for whom the playoffs have effectively started. Win and move on. Lose and you might be done.
Those managers need a win in the worst way—they need to get lucky. But as Lucius Annaeus Seneca said, "Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity."
This column is all about helping you prepare for Week 13. Here you'll find position-by-position rankings for PPR leagues, some matchups to target and avoid, and a list of the top 100 players overall.
Now let's make some "luck."

Quarterbacks
1 of 6
It has been a weird season in the NFL under center. No one embodies that weirdness more than Washington Commanders second-year signal-caller Sam Howell.
The Commanders haven't had much success as a team. After a 2-0 start, they've gone 2-8 since. But 12 weeks into the season, no quarterback has more passing yards than Howell's 3,339.
That the AFC leader in passing yards in rookie C.J. Stroud is Exhibit B that it has been a weird season. But back to young Mr. Howell.
Howell has only 18 passing scores (tied for 10th in the league), which has hurt his fantasy production a bit. But he's still seventh in fantasy points among quarterbacks for the season. Given that he opened the year on the waiver wire in more leagues than not, managers who snatched him up have gotten quite the value play.
GOOD MATCHUPS
Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers (at PHI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,100]
Purdy has been a bit up-and-down statistically, although he ranks ninth in fantasy points among quarterbacks for the season. The Eagles have the league's best record, but they've struggled to defend the pass all season long.
Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins (at WAS) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,900]
Tagovailoa's numbers on Black Friday weren't what fantasy managers would have hoped, as he finished with only 243 passing yards, one score and two picks against the New York Jets. But this week, the Dolphins should roll through the air against Washington's 30th-ranked pass defense.
BAD MATCHUPS
Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals (at PIT) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,000]
Murray's ability to pick up yardage with his legs gives him the ability to sometimes beat a bad matchup. But the Cardinals offense isn't exactly firing on all cylinders, and the Steelers rank 27th this season in fantasy points per game allowed to quarterbacks.
Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams (vs. CLE) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,900]
Stafford was excellent last week against the Arizona Cardinals, tossing four touchdown passes on the way to a better fantasy outing than Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. But no team in the AFC has given up fewer fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this year than the Browns.
SLEEPER
Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers (at TB) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,900]
While C.J. Stroud has been lighting up the stat sheet on a weekly basis, Young's rookie year has been much rockier—he's 27th in fantasy points among quarterbacks. But if ever there was a matchup for Young to look like a No. 1 overall pick, it's against Tampa Bay's reeling secondary.

Running Backs
2 of 6
Over the first month of the 2023 fantasy football season, there was no more surprising star at running back than Kyren Williams of the Los Angeles Rams. He averaged just over 20 PPR points per game over the first four weeks and ranked third among running backs.
However, Williams got hurt in Week 6 and spent a month-plus on injured reserve with an ankle injury. Thankfully, Williams made his return to the gridiron Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals and went right back to posting gaudy numbers.
Williams racked up a whopping 204 total yards against Arizona on 22 touches, finding the end zone twice on receptions. No running back had more PPR points in Week 12. Not Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers. Not Bijan Robinson of the Atlanta Falcons. Not anyone.
This week's matchup with Cleveland's top-ranked defense isn't an easy one. But with the way Williams has lit up the box score in 2023, he is a must-start regardless of opponent.
GOOD MATCHUPS
Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans (vs. IND) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,800]
Henry barely cracked 75 yards on the ground last week and has just two 100-yard efforts this season, in part thanks to the "Curse of 370." But he found the end zone twice last week, and he now faces a Colts team this week that ranks seventh in PPR points per game given up to running backs.
Rachaad White, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (vs. CAR) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,300]
Despite the dreaded late-week appearance on the injury report, White not only played against the Indianapolis Colts but piled up 100 yards on the ground. He could easily repeat that feat against a Carolina Panthers team that ranks 24th in the NFL in run defense.
BAD MATCHUPS
Breece Hall, New York Jets (vs. ATL) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,400]
Hall drew criticism from Jets head coach Robert Saleh this week for trying to hit a home run on every rushing attempt. The second-year pro may struggle to even get a double this week against a Falcons team that has surrendered the second-fewest PPR points per game to running backs in 2023.
D'Andre Swift, Philadelphia Eagles (vs. SF) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,600]
Swift has been an excellent value for fantasy managers this season—he's eighth in PPR points among running backs after 12 weeks. But running on the 49ers isn't easy. San Francisco has allowed the second-fewest rushing yards per game in the league this season.
SLEEPER
Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. AZ) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,200]
Harris has been on a roll the past few weeks—he has at least 80 yards on the ground and a touchdown in two of the past three games. This week, he faces the same Cardinals defense that Kyren Williams just went ballistic against in Week 12.
WEEK 13 RUNNING BACK RANKINGS

2. Austin Ekeler, LAC (at NE)
3. Kyren Williams, LAR (vs. CLE)

Wide Receivers
3 of 6
For the most part, the usual suspects are atop the wide receiver leaderboard this season. Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins, CeeDee Lamb of the Dallas Cowboys, Stefon Diggs of the Buffalo Bills, Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions and A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles are all names we expected to see at or near the top.
But there's one name that has charged up the board over the past month that not many fantasy managers expected to see in 2023—Nathaniel "Tank" Dell of the Houston Texans.
C.J. Stroud has been a revelation in Houston as a rookie, and over the past several weeks, he and Dell have developed quite the rapport. In each of the past four games, Dell has caught at least five passes, amassed at least 50 receiving yards and found the end zone. Over that four-game span, only Lamb and Keenan Allen of the Los Angeles Chargers have more PPR points among wide receivers.
Dell is one of three rookie wideouts in the top-20 in PPR points after 12 weeks, joining Puka Nacua of the Los Angeles Rams and Jordan Addison of the Minnesota Vikings.
It's been quite the season for first-year players.
GOOD MATCHUPS
Michael Pittman, Indianapolis Colts (at TEN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,100]
Pittman has been robotically consistent of late—he has at least eight catches in five of his past six games and double-digit targets in four of those contests. The Titans have struggled defending the pass this season, allowing the sixth-most PPR points per game to wide receivers.
Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers (at PHI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,200]
Samuel had one of his better games of the season last week, turning 11 touches into 94 yards and a touchdown. This week, he and the 49ers take on an Eagles defense that leads the league in PPR points per game allowed to wideouts.
BAD MATCHUPS
Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (vs. CAR) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,700]
Concerns about how Evans would fare with Baker Mayfield were overblown, as the veteran receiver ranks ninth in PPR points at his position. However, while the Panthers have been a terrible team, they have also been a surprisingly poor fantasy matchup for wideouts. They're allowing the fourth-fewest PPR points per game to the position.
Puka Nacua, Los Angeles Rams (vs. CLE) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,000]
Saying anything at all bad about Nacua is good way to get the fantasy community to hurl tomatoes in your direction. But while the rookie has been fantastic, there's no denying that his matchup with Cleveland's top-ranked pass defense is a bad one.
SLEEPER
Curtis Samuel, Washington (vs. MIA) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,100]
Samuel was Washington's most effective wide receiver in the team's blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving, tallying nine catches for 100 yards. The Commanders are going to have to throw the ball to have any chance against Miami. (OK, they don't really have a chance against Miami.)
WEEK 13 WIDE RECEIVER RANKINGS

2. CeeDee Lamb, DAL (vs. SEA)

Tight Ends
4 of 6
In recent years, the tight end position in fantasy football has become a matter of haves and have-nots. There are a handful of reliable weekly starters, and then a massive morass of players who are capable of a big stat line one week and then a vanishing act the next.
Pat Freiermuth of the Pittsburgh Steelers has certainly shown himself to be capable of both in 2023.
For much of the season, Freiermuth has been MIA. He has played in only six games this season and had posted eight fantasy points only once entering Week 12. That's hardly ideal for a player whom some managers expected to emerge as a solid weekly starter in 2023.
However, in Week 12, we finally saw a glimpse of Freiermuth's potential. Against the Cincinnati Bengals, Freiermuth was targeted 11 times, hauling in nine passes for 120 yards. He was the highest-scoring tight end in fantasy for the week.
Can he repeat that finish (or even come close) in Week 13? Who knows?
But just that potential and upside will be enough for a lot of fantasy managers.
GOOD MATCHUPS
George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers (at PHI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,200]
Kittle was a major letdown for fantasy managers a week ago, catching only three passes for 19 yards. There's a good bet he doubles that and then some in a favorable fantasy matchup with an Eagles team that ranks 29th in the NFL against the pass this season.
Dalton Schultz, Houston Texans (vs. DEN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,000]
Schultz was actually outsnapped in the fourth quarter of last week's loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars by Brevin Jordan, but we're just going to pretend that never happened. No team has allowed more fantasy points per game to tight ends this year than the Broncos.
BAD MATCHUPS
Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams (vs. CLE) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,700]
After Higbee found the end zone twice last week, fantasy managers reeling from the six-team Byepocalypse may be considering him as a fill-in option. But no team in the league has been stingier to tight ends in fantasy this season than the Browns.
Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals (at PIT) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,900]
McBride has shown flashes of coming into his own in Year 2 of his career, especially with Zach Ertz on the shelf. However, his seven catches for 60 yards from a week ago are going to be hard to duplicate in a tough fantasy matchup this week with the Steelers.
SLEEPER
Tyler Conklin, New York Jets (vs. ATL) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,000]
At this point, trusting any Jets pass-catcher might appear to fall somewhere between "risky" and "no chance." But Conklin is essentially the No. 2 receiver for the Jets, and the Falcons have given up the fourth-most PPR points per game to tight ends this year.
WEEK 13 TIGHT END RANKINGS
1. Travis Kelce, KC (at GB)
2. George Kittle, SF (at PHI)
3. Sam LaPorta, DET (at NO)
4. Evan Engram, JAX (vs. CIN)
5. Dalton Schultz, HOU (vs. DEN)
6. Pat Freiermuth, PIT (vs. AZ)

Kickers and Defenses
5 of 6
I'm as tired of writing about the Dallas Cowboys defense as you are of reading about them. But from a fantasy perspective, it's hard to stop when they keep scoring touchdowns every week.
Or more appropriately, cornerback DaRon Bland keeps scoring touchdowns.
On Thanksgiving Day, Bland scored on his fifth pick-six of the 2023 season—a new NFL record. In doing so, he impressed the man who signs his check.
"It's one thing to intercept the ball. It's another thing to mentally expect to take it maybe to the end zone," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told reporters. "That's another dimension that I think we all ought to look at. That run he made into the end zone, I don't care if it was a quarterback trying to tackle him, that run was a determined run."
Bland has more touchdowns this season than Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams and Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson. He has as many scores as Garrett Wilson of the New York Jets and Terry McLaurin of the Washington Commanders combined.
That kind of wackiness has to be talked about.
GOOD MATCHUPS
Jason Sanders, Miami Dolphins (vs. WAS): Sanders hasn't been a great fantasy option this season, largely because all the Dolphins do is score touchdowns, But the Commanders lead the league in fantasy points per game allowed to kickers, so why not?
Miami Dolphins Defense (at WAS) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,900]: The loss of edge-rusher Jaelan Phillips to an Achilles tear was a blow for the Dolphins, but they'll still be able to generate pressure against Washington and their quintet of matadors on the offensive line.
BAD MATCHUPS
Jason Myers, Seattle Seahawks (at DAL): Myers was one of the most productive kickers in fantasy football last year, but as the Seattle offense has struggled, his numbers have tumbled. Throw in a bad matchup for the position with the Cowboys, and he's a pass.
San Francisco 49ers Defense (at PHI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,000] The 49ers are as good defensively as any team in the NFL. But fantasy value with defenses often hinges largely on matchups, and the Eagles are 27th in fantasy points per game surrendered to defenses this season.
SLEEPER
Atlanta Falcons Defense (at NYJ) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,400]
The folks at DraftKings are hip to this call, but in most season-long leagues, the Atlanta defense is probably available on the waiver wire. There are only two words needed to describe why they are a strong fantasy play in Week 13: Tim freaking Boyle. OK, that was three words.

Top 100 Players Overall
6 of 6
It's time for the top 100 players overall for PPR leagues in Week 13—a list that can be used as a resource when making "flex" lineup decisions. But before we get to that, the always fun and exciting weekly notes.
The first is the same as always: There are no quarterbacks listed here. If your fantasy league has a "superflex" spot and you have a viable second quarterback, flex him. With six teams on bye and injuries piling up at the position, however, "viable" is becoming a relative concept.
That's right. It's Byepocalypse Part 2 this week—the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, Las Vegas Raiders, Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants are all off. No Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen at quarterback. No Josh Jacobs or Saquon Barkley at running back. No Stefon Diggs or Davante Adams at wide receiver.
Finally, for more than a few fantasy managers, this is a do-or-die week. They need a win to keep their postseason aspirations alive. Given that, this is no time to be conservative, especially if you consider yourself an underdog. Don't be afraid to sacrifice floor for ceiling with lineup calls where necessary. It's better to shoot for the victory and lose by 40 than play not to lose and fall by 10.
It's also easier to live with. Believe me.
