Vikings vs. Broncos Picks, Lineup Tips for Daily Fantasy DraftKings for SNF

Paul KasabianNov 19, 2023

Two red-hot teams will on battle in Denver on Sunday evening as the host Broncos welcome the Minnesota Vikings into town.

Minnesota is on a five-game win streak after a 1-4 start, while Denver has overcome a 1-5 beginning to register three straight victories.

This looks like a great game on paper. From a fantasy football perspective, we should have a host of good options to consider on DraftKings' Sunday Night Football single-game slates. Both offenses are faring well right now with numerous players stepping up when given the opportunities.

Here's a look at three players to consider when making lineups Sunday.

During the Broncos' three-game win streak, running back Javonte Williams ($8,800 flex, $13,200 captain) has averaged 24.3 touches per game. He's averaged 17.47 DK fantasy points during that span as well.

It's pretty clear that the Broncos will feed Williams if games are close or they have the edge. Williams notably had 30 touches for 98 yards and a score in a 24-9 win over the Kansas City Chiefs before following that up with 110 yards and one touchdown on 25 touches in a 24-22 victory against the Buffalo Bills.

Williams hasn't been particularly efficient of late (3.42 yards per carry) over his past two contests, but that hasn't prevented him from being fed time and time again.

If you believe that the Broncos will continue their torrid pace, then Williams should see 20-plus touches easily. He may not be the league's most explosive back, but plenty of touches ultimately leads to fantasy production.

The downside here is that Williams may not see as many looks if the Vikings jump out to an early lead, and/or by multiple scores. Samaje Perine and Jameel McLaughlin should get the nod then as the team's pass-catching/third-down backs. But Williams' usage is simply too hard to ignore here.

Vikings TE T.J. Hockenson (Captain)

Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson ($9,400 flex, $14,100 captain) was a limited practice participant all last week (ribs) before suiting up against the New Orleans Saints. He proceeded to outgain the Saints by himself in the first half thanks to 128 receiving yards (and a touchdown) on 10 catches en route to a 27-19 win.

Hockenson has been limited once again this week, but why worry? Over his past four games, the former Iowa star has caught 35 passes for 377 yards and two touchdowns on 48 targets. He's snagged 71 receptions for 681 yards and four scores through 10 games already.

Players shouldn't have any qualms about putting him in the captain's spot. Despite his injuries, he's been a productive target machine. The Vikings clearly aren't scared of giving him a lot of work too based on his 10 catches in one half of play.

It's also encouraging to see Hockenson earn a great rapport with new quarterback Josh Dobbs off the bat. In Dobbs' first full game with Minnesota last Sunday, he fed Hockenson a season-high 15 targets. That's a lofty number to expect Sunday, but another 10-plus targets could be in store once again.

Broncos WR Marvin Mims (Flex)

Marvin Mims played a season-high 69 percent of snaps last Monday against the Buffalo Bills, but he finished with just one carry for negative-three yards and one catchless target.

Mims, a gamebreaking rookie out of Oklahoma, has turned 15 targets into 11 receptions for 246 yards (22.4 yards per catch) and one score. So we know he's capable of huge plays when given the opportunity.

The problem is that he hasn't received those chances. Monday marked the first time he played at least 40 percent of the snaps this season. He's seen more than two targets in a game just once (Week 3, when he went for three catches and 73 yards on five looks).

One would assume that more snaps would lead to more targets at some point. If head coach Sean Payton keeps Mims' snap count up like he did last Monday, then the production should follow.

It's interesting to note that Mims finished second in snaps among Broncos wideouts, even ahead of starter Jerry Jeudy. If he gets more chances Sunday evening, he can absolutely pay off on single-game slates, even with a $5,600 salary ($8,400 captain).
