Week 6 Waiver-Wire Pickups: Sleepers Who May Still Be Available
It's never too late in the week for fantasy football managers to head to the waiver wire in search of start-worthy players.
Maybe an injury situation has left you shorthanded heading into Week 6. In that case, there are some fill-in options available on waivers who can help.
Fantasy managers don't have quite as many options this week, though. The first bye weeks have arrived, meaning four teams (the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans) will be out of action.
Still, there are some intriguing players on the waiver wire in most leagues who should either be picked up and stashed or even started in a pinch.
Here are some deeper waiver-wire sleepers who should be targeted ahead of Week 6.
Rondale Moore, WR, Arizona Cardinals
1 of 3
Rondale Moore's fantasy value could soon take a substantial hit. DeAndre Hopkins will be eligible to return from a six-game suspension next week, which will provide a big boost to Arizona's receiving corps.
For now, though, Moore is worthy of flex consideration for the Cardinals' Week 6 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Last week, he had his best performance of the season thus far, with seven catches for 68 yards in a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Arizona's offense should put up big numbers against Seattle, which is allowing an NFL-high 430 total yards per game. So, that could lead to an even better performance for the 22-year-old, who has a good chance of scoring his first touchdown of the season.
Even if Moore doesn't have a ton of long-term fantasy value, he should be useful as a one-week fill-in starter for managers with a shorthanded group of receivers.
Mike Boone, RB, Denver Broncos
2 of 3
With Javonte Williams out for the season, Melvin Gordon III is the clear lead running back in the Denver Broncos' offense. But he isn't going to be the only player getting touches out of the backfield moving forward.
That was evident last week, when Mike Boone had a solid showing in the loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He was much more involved than he was prior to Williams' injury, as he had seven carries for 38 yards and three receptions for 47 yards.
It was encouraging to see the 27-year-old involved in the passing game, as that could further boost his fantasy value for the rest of the season. And if Gordon struggles, it seems likely the Cincinnati product will be the first RB to get more opportunities.
It's a bit of a risk to start Boone for the Week 6 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, but it may be worth picking him up to see how this backfield situation develops for Denver throughout the year.
Daniel Bellinger, TE, New York Giants
3 of 3
The Giants have been one of the surprise teams of the NFL season, after jumping out to an unexpected 4-1 start. They're playing far better than many predicted.
As a result, New York's offensive players are better fantasy options than early projections might have indicated. And tight end Daniel Bellinger has put himself on the radar with some solid performances to open his NFL career.
The 22-year-old has scored two touchdowns, one of which was a rushing score in the Week 5 win over the Green Bay Packers. If New York gives him more opportunities to carry the ball near the goal line, it will only increase his burgeoning fantasy value.
At this point, Bellinger is a bit of a risky fantasy play, as he's only had more than three catches in a game once. But if his role expands—and there's a decent chance it could—he may become a start-worthy player later in the season.
