Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 5: Rounding Up Latest Expert Advice on the Web
Maybe the 2022 fantasy football season hasn't gone the way you hoped. Perhaps you have two or three losses, or possibly even four. Well, don't be disheartened, because there's still plenty of time to get back on track.
In order to do that, managers will need to make the right lineup decisions (maybe ones that are better than ones you've been making in recent weeks).
To help, here's some start/sit advice for Week 5, along with what the fantasy experts are saying about these players.
Start 'Em: Damien Harris, RB, New England Patriots
1 of 3
Damien Harris has a nose for the end zone, and the Patriots running back has shown that early in the 2022 campaign. He's scored a rushing touchdown in three straight games, and in Week 4 he had a season-high 86 yards on the ground to go with his score in a victory over the Green Bay Packers.
Can Harris extend his TD streak to four in Week 5? Jamey Eisenberg of CBS Sports thinks so and for good reason.
"Detroit leads the NFL in rushing touchdowns allowed to running backs with eight, and the Lions are No. 2 in fantasy points allowed to the position, trailing only the Texans," Eisenberg wrote.
New England's offense hasn't put up huge numbers this season, and quarterback Mac Jones has been dealing with an ankle injury. That could actually bode well for Harris, though, as the Pats could want to keep the ball on the ground more.
Harris is a solid RB start for Week 5, and don't be surprised if he scores yet another touchdown (or maybe even two) against the struggling Lions defense on Sunday.
Sit 'Em: DJ Moore, WR, Carolina Panthers
2 of 3
Panthers wide receiver DJ Moore has been targeted 29 times in four games, so he's getting plenty of opportunities to make plays. Yet he has only 13 catches this season, which has resulted in only 138 yards and a touchdown (which came in Week 2).
Things aren't going great for Moore in his first season working with quarterback Baker Mayfield, who is at least trying to get the ball in the playmaker's hands. It's always encouraging to see a receiver get targeted frequently for fantasy purposes, but it's not translating to any results in this instance.
That's why NFL.com's Michael Florio is suggesting that fantasy managers keep Moore on the bench for the Panthers' Week 5 matchup vs. the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
"He is no longer a player you have to start each week, and this week is a tough matchup against the 49ers who have allowed the sixth-fewest fantasy PPG to receivers (28.78)," Florio wrote.
Take that advice and don't put Moore in your lineup this week. In fact, unless he proves he can produce some results, it may be wise not to play him for the foreseeable future.
Start 'Em: Kyle Pitts, TE, Atlanta Falcons
3 of 3
No fantasy tight end has been more disappointing through the first four weeks of the season than Kyle Pitts. He has only 10 catches for 150 yards this year, and most of that came in the Falcons' Week 3 win over the Seattle Seahawks, when he had five receptions for 87 yards.
In each of Atlanta's other three games, Pitts had two or fewer catches and 25 or fewer yards. And he still hasn't gotten into the end zone this season.
But Sports Illustrated's Michael Fabiano believes the Falcons' Week 5 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could actually lead to some improved results for Pitts.
"Their defense has given up 9.7 or more points to three different tight ends in its first four games, and Pitts averaged over 10 fantasy points per contest against them as a rookie," Fabiano wrote.
So, consider giving Pitts another go this week. But if he again fails to live up to expectations, then it's only going to get harder to keep trusting him moving forward.
