Way-Too-Early Predictions For AEW Full Gear 2022 Match Card

Graham GSM MatthewsOct 2, 2022

With All Elite Wrestling's extremely newsworthy week of Grand Slam shows officially in the rear view, fans have already begun to speculate what the card for Full Gear on Nov. 19 will consist of.

The promotion has had a strong string of pay-per-views this year. Even without anything announced as of now, Full Gear should be no exception given the deeply talented crew of competitors available to work it.

That's despite the several stars who are currently sidelined with suspensions and injuries. AEW has managed to rebound seamlessly since All Out in early September by putting on quality shows and maintaining the momentum week-by-week.

This upcoming installment of Full Gear will be happening a little later compared to past years, giving AEW plenty of time to put together a loaded lineup. That also means a majority of the matches won't become clear until the event draws closer.

Thus, these are seven way-too-early match-card predictions for the event at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, taking into account only the active roster.

Chris Jericho vs. Daniel Garcia (ROH World Championship)

1 of 7

The seeds have slowly been planted for a program between Chris Jericho and Daniel Garcia, and by Full Gear, it should finally come to a head.

Their underlying tension dates back to when Garcia and Bryan Danielson started their series of matches in the summer. Garcia gained Danielson's respect through their hard-fought battles and has teased ditching his label as a "sports entertainer" to return to his roots as a professional wrestler.

Danielson and Garcia will team up against Jericho and Sammy Guevara on Wednesday's Dynamite, and that should be where we get another step closer toward the veteran and Garcia finally cementing their split.

There's a chance Garcia's soft alliance with Danielson turns out to be a ruse, but it's high time the ROH Pure champion breaks off from the Jericho Appreciation Society and capitalizes on the positive crowd reactions he's been receiving lately.

Jericho's run as Ring of Honor world champion should culminate at Full Gear, with Garcia being the one to take the title from him.

Jungle Boy vs. Luchasaurus

2 of 7

Christian Cage's heartbreaking betrayal of Jungle Boy at the start of the summer kicked off what has been a hot program between the two.

Jungle Boy was briefly put on the shelf by Cage, only to return with a vengeance in time for a heated match at All Out. Because of an injury sustained by Cage beforehand, the bout was less than 30 seconds long, but the way it was executed effectively kept their feud alive.

Luchasaurus continuing to target Jack Perry since the pay-per-view means the two are still on a collision course for an upcoming clash. With that being their first-ever one-on-one encounter, it deserves to be saved for a big stage such as Full Gear.

Perry has plenty of fanfare as a singles star, and the rivalry with Luchasaurus allows him to maintain that momentum. The definitive end of Jurassic Express should come at Full Gear—or at least their first match of many until Cage is cleared to compete again.

Keith Lee vs. Swerve Strickland

3 of 7

Much like Jurassic Express, Swerve In Our Glory are another tandem who have had their fair share of issues in 2022.

The two ex-WWE stars formed a soft alliance earlier in the year, but before they could feud with one another, they struck gold as a team and captured the tag titles in July. They were a cohesive unit up until they dropped the belts to The Acclaimed at the Grand Slam edition of Dynamite last week.

The AEW tag team division is deep enough that it can easily withstand Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland going their separate ways. Swerve has major potential to be a breakout heel, while Lee already has the crowd behind him and just needs the proper push.

The breakup of Swerve In Our Glory hasn't happened yet, but an ample amount of time remains between now and Full Gear. Lee and Strickland finally facing off could steal the show with ease and kick off their respective singles runs with a bang.

Toni Storm vs. Britt Baker (AEW Interim Women's World Championship)

4 of 7

AEW has bolstered its women's division with a ton of top talent in the last year or so, but it seems Britt Baker is never out of the mix for the AEW Women's World Championship picture for more than a few months at a time.

Toni Storm pinned her to clinch the interim title at All Out and won another Four-Way involving her at Grand Slam to retain it. Despite that, Baker complained about not factoring into the finish on this week's Dynamite in between taking shots at the debuting Saraya.

Baker vs. Saraya should be the ultimate direction AEW heads in, but without knowing when or even if the former WWE star will be cleared to compete, it's difficult to say whether it will happen at Full Gear. As such, Storm vs. Baker is arguably the next biggest bout AEW can do.

Granted, it's a contest that's already been done twice before, but they've split victories and a rubber match at the event can decide who the true superior star is. It can also further the feud between Baker and Saraya, with the latter costing the former the title in some way.

PAC vs. Orange Cassidy (AEW All-Atlantic Championship)

5 of 7

It's been announced that PAC will defend his AEW All-Atlantic Championship against Trent Beretta next Saturday at the fourth Battle of the Belts special. Needless to say, Beretta doesn't stand a chance of walking away the new champ.

Instead, it's merely another chapter in PAC's seemingly never-ending rivalry with Best Friends, a feud that dates back as far as early 2020. He's beaten Orange Cassidy on multiple occasions, but Cassidy won't rest until he gets that elusive victory over The Bastard.

Their last encounter saw PAC emerge victorious after resorting to underhanded tactics. Other than putting heat on him, that was likely designed to keep Cassidy in chase mode for a little longer.

Blowing it off after years of buildup with a hotly contested clash at Full Gear is the way to go. Cassidy getting his first taste of gold with a win over his biggest AEW rival at an event with such importance would make for a memorable moment.

Wardlow vs. Miro (AEW TNT Championship)

6 of 7

The AEW TNT Championship has been criminally underutilized for what seems like ages. Unfortunately, it has barely been better off in the possession of Wardlow than it was previously.

If anything, the title has only hindered his once-hot momentum, and the opposite should be true.

The last we saw of Wardlow on AEW TV, he and Samoa Joe formed a dominant duo and destroyed Tony Nese and Josh Woods in tag team action. Nothing else was hinted at in regards to his future direction, unless the idea is to gradually build to Wardlow vs. Joe for one or both of their belts.

Conspicuous by his absence as of late is Miro, who had one of the best AEW TNT Championship reigns to date. In fact, he never received a rematch for the title, and it should come in a massive bout with Wardlow at Full Gear.

This isn't an educated guess by any means as much as it is a plea to Tony Khan to book the contest. It isn't as if either guy is involved in anything of note at the moment anyway.

Jon Moxley vs. MJF (AEW World Championship)

7 of 7

There can be no doubt that Jon Moxley vs. MJF for the AEW World Championship will headline Full Gear, regardless of who enters the event as the champion and the challenger.

Moxley decisively defeated Bryan Danielson at Grand Slam to capture the vacant title. His next defense is set for the Oct. 18 edition of Dynamite, but the championship changing hands yet again after such a short span of time isn't likely or ideal.

MJF, meanwhile, earned the opportunity at All Out to contend for the title at any time and place of his choosing. It's essentially the AEW equivalent to a Money in the Bank contract, and it wouldn't be characteristic of MJF to announce his cash-in ahead of time.

Either way, Moxley vs. MJF is a must-see main event for Full Gear. As has been acknowledged recently, they have history as rivals, and MJF has yet to avenge his loss to Moxley from two years ago. Beating him to become champ would perfectly tie up that loose end.

Expect the build to this highly anticipated outing to officially get underway once Moxley bests "Hangman" Adam Page and takes his bad blood with MJF to the next level.
