What’s at Stake?
Duke will be looking to win their 12th game of the campaign before playing their second road game of the season. The Blue Devils will be looking to finish their non-conference campaign strong (with one more to play) before heading into ACC play on January 7.
Pennsylvania is looking to increase their record to the .500 mark. A victory would carry the Quakers into Ivy League play on an extremely high note. If they could even just compete with the Blue Devils their confidence level will be at an all-time high before their conference opener on January 13.
What They’re Saying
With the dazzling guard play that Duke holds, Coach K would like to see them push the tempo more, according to FoxSports.com.
""We're trying to push it more," Krzyzewski said. "We think we can keep a fresh point guard in there all the time. We have depth and we need to take advantage of it."
"
Duke Player to Watch: Seth Curry
Seth Curry is a guard that can get hot at any moment. He can also have mediocre-to-poor games that leave his team in holes.
He either scores high in double-digits or in single-digits. There is little-to-no in between for Curry.
However, when he has played well he has been hot from the perimeter. He has recorded seven games where he hit more than one three-pointer.
Pennsylvania Player to Watch: Zack Rosen
Zack Rosen leads the Quakers in points (19.7) and assists (6.4) to go along with 3.9 rebounds per game. He is a senior guard that is capable of leading the Quakers in a plethora of statistical categories. He shoots 50 percent from the floor and 44.7 percent from behind the arc.
Key Matchup: Front line vs. Front line
Tyler Bernardini leads the Quakers in rebounding as a 6’6” guard. Rob Belcore is second in rebounding and he’s also 6’6”.
Miles and Mason Plumlee and Ryan Kelly should be able to dominate the boards with their overwhelming size advantages. Both Plumlee brothers are 6’10” and average nine rebounds and seven rebounds respectively.
Duke should have their way underneath, created second-chance opportunities and one-and-out’s on the defensive side of the floor.
Prediction: Duke 82, Pennsylvania 58
Austin Rivers is a sensational freshman that will be able to use his pure athleticism to penetrate the lane to score and find open shooters. He has scored double-figures in nine straight games. The Plumlee brothers dominate the glass and Duke shoots 50 percent from the floor in a blowout victory.
