Updated 2023 NFL Draft Order After Sunday's Week 2 Results
For the past two years, the Jacksonville Jaguars have had the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft. That's unlikely to happen again in 2023, especially after the Jags became the first AFC South team to win a game during the 2022 season.
On Sunday, Jacksonville pulled off a surprising upset, cruising to a 24-0 home win over the Indianapolis Colts, who many had pegged as the AFC South preseason favorite. The Jaguars (1-1) have jumped out to an early division lead over the Colts (0-1-1), Houston Texans (0-1-1) and Tennessee Titans (0-1).
Not every NFL team has notched a victory, though. There are four 0-2 teams and three others that have yet to win this season. The Titans could also fall to 0-2 if they lose on the road against the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.
There's still plenty of time for these teams to turn things around. But if not, they'll at least get an early pick in the 2023 NFL draft.
With Week 2 nearly complete, here's an updated look at the projected draft order for next year at this point.

Falcons on Path Toward Top Draft Pick
2 of 4
The Falcons were expected to struggle a bit this year, and that's been the case so far. They blew a 16-point lead in their season-opening 27-26 loss to the Saints, then they fell 31-27 to the Rams in Week 2. And both of those games took place in Atlanta.
Things are only going to get tougher for the Falcons later on. They still have two games against the Buccaneers, as well as matchups against solid teams such as the Chargers, Ravens, Cardinals and others.
At some point, Atlanta may turn to rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder, a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft, to see if he could potentially be the franchise QB. Through two weeks, the Falcons have started Marcus Mariota, who has passed for 411 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
It wouldn't be a huge surprise if the Falcons end up with the No. 1 overall pick in 2023, and it's safe to assume they'll likely end up in at least the top five.
Can Panthers Get on Track Soon?
3 of 4
The Falcons aren't the only NFC South team off to an 0-2 start. The Panthers have also opened the year with back-to-back losses, falling 26-24 to the Browns at home in Week 1 and 19-16 on the road vs. the Giants in Week 2.
Carolina has home games each of the next three weeks, when it will host New Orleans, Arizona and San Francisco. Those are some challenging opponents, but the Panthers at least won't have to travel and can stay in a good routine.
In order for Carolina to have success, it will likely need more production out of running back Christian McCaffrey. He scored a touchdown in Week 1, but he had only 57 total yards. Then, he ran for 102 yards in Week 2, but he didn't get into the end zone.
If McCaffrey starts putting up the big numbers that he did earlier in his career, then the Panthers may start to string together a few wins. But they'll also probably need more from quarterback Baker Mayfield, who has passed for 380 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
Raiders, Bengals off to Surprise 0-2 Starts
4 of 4
Who would have predicted that the Raiders or Bengals would be 0-2 heading into Week 3? These are two solid AFC teams that were expected to be playoff contenders in 2022, and now they'll have to dig themselves out of an early hole.
Las Vegas had a 20-point halftime lead over Arizona on Sunday, yet went on to lose 29-23 in overtime. It wasn't a great showing by the Raiders, who were looking to bounce back from their 24-19 loss to the Chargers in Week 1.
Cincinnati, the defending AFC champions, has lost each of its first two games by a margin of three points. The Bengals fell 23-20 in overtime to the Steelers in Week 1, then lost 20-17 to the Cowboys in Week 2.
Although both these teams should start to pick up wins soon, the Raiders will have a tougher path, as they have five more games against AFC West opponents. The Bengals are in a much more winnable division (the AFC North), so it still wouldn't be a huge surprise if they eventually end up in first place.
