When Are the Warriors Going to Wake Up and Utilize Andris Biedrins More?
What else is new? Another loss for the Golden State Warriors? Lucky for me I was not able to watch this game after another pathetic showing by the young team.
Although, I did follow the game on Yahoo! as I was watching the California Golden Bears beat the visiting Arizona Wildcats in Berkeley, but even with taking a look at the score on commercials and when the game was done.
The one thing that bugged me the most was that Andris Biedrins was having a big game. Sure, he got into foul trouble because he was put on Al Jefferson. The problem is that Biedrins was doing extremely well at the time.
The Warriors were still in the game. Biedrins had 17 points and 7 boards coming into halftime or something close to that. More importantly, he was 8-of-11 from the field.
By the time I saw what the final was, which the Warriors did manage to only lose by seven, Biedrins had taken only one shot and had one more point by hitting a free throw. Meaning he ended up with 18 points. He did manage to gain about six more boards for a total of 13.
You know it's bad for the Warriors when Stephen Jackson shoots at 50 percent, going 7-for-14 from the field and Andris Biedrins goes 8-of-12 from the field. There's something wrong with that picture.
According to the recap of the game, Brandan Wright wasn't able to go due to a sprained wrist. Here's the question that I want to know the answer to: Why not play Anthony Randolph in Wright's place instead of Rob Kurz?
Randolph could have made a big difference for the Warriors because of his length and athleticism. Yet, of course Nelson didn't even give Randolph a chance. I know he's still young and he makes mistakes, but at least from what I've seen from him is that he hustles.
It probably would have helped the Warriors especially on Ryan Gomes who went for 21 points and 10 rebounds. He also could have helped out on Kevin Love as well, who went for 19 points and 8 rebounds.
The Warriors aren't going to win by shooting jumpers, because they aren't a good shooting team. Their best shooter in terms of percentage wise is Andris Biedrins.
Use him down in the paint; maybe he'll be able to draw a double team he can pass out of or at least draw fouls on opposing teams' big men.
I do realize Biedrins is a dreadful foul shooter, but at least the Warriors would be able to attack the basket more if Biedrins can get back to shooting near 60 percent like he did last year.
Lastly, Jamal Crawford has shown that he has a pretty good idea on how to get to the rim by taking his defender off the dribble.
The Warriors need to have him concentrate on instead of taking 15- to 20-foot jumpers he needs to attack the rim and draw fouls.
Getting Biedrins involved on the offense and having Crawford get to the rim would benefit the Warriors.
