Fantasy Football 2022 Positional Rankings Cheat Sheet and Top ADP Values

Zach BuckleySep 1, 2022

Draft time is upon us.

In less than a week, the 2022 NFL campaign will officially kick off, so fantasy football leagues that haven't drafted yet should plan for a busy weekend ahead.

Hopefully, you're knee-deep in your cram session already, but maybe you've had other items on the to-do list the past few weeks. Either way, we're here to help by providing our top-10 rankings at the three marquee positions in standard leagues and our favorite value by average draft position, using data from FantasyPros.

Quarterback

Top 10

1. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

2. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

3. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

4. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

5. Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

6. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

7. Russell Wilson, Denver Broncos

8. Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

9. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

10. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

Top ADP Value: Russell Wilson (79, QB11)

Wilson's value as QB11 may not immediately jump off the page, but he's actually closer to QB12 (Matthew Stafford, 101) than he is to QB6 (Jalen Hurts, 56).

What it basically boils down is that drafters are putting Wilson in the wrong tier, treating him more like a solid option at quarterback than a potentially special one. You don't have to make that mistake.

Wilson has been a fantasy juggernaut before (he paced the league in touchdown passes in 2017), but his numbers has started to sag as the Seattle Seahawks had adopted some of the NFL's most conservative play-calling.

He shouldn't have that issue in Denver, and if the Broncos let him be aggressive, Wilson can take advantage of all the players around him, like ascending receivers Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy and rising running back Javonte Williams.

Running Back

Top 10

1. Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts

2. Christian McCaffrey, Carolina Panthers

3. Austin Ekeler, Los Angeles Chargers

4. Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans

5. Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers

6. Dalvin Cook, Minnesota Vikings

7. Joe Mixon, Cincinnati Bengals

8. D'Andre Swift, Detroit Lions

9. Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints

10. Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns

Top ADP Value: Saquon Barkley (15, RB11)

Remember how a healthy Barkley looks? Maybe you don't after he lost all but two games in the 2020 season to an ACL tear that clearly still impacted him across 13 contests in 2021.

Before that, though, he was the NFL's future at the position. He was the second overall pick of the 2018 draft and spent his first two seasons tallying 3,469 scrimmage yards and 23 touchdowns. Getting back to those numbers (or anything close) would make him a value at his ADP, but he thinks he might do even better.

"Do I feel like I'm back? I feel like I'm better, to be completely honest," Barkley said recently, via Fox Sports' Ralph Vacchiano.

If Barkley is back, he has a nonzero chance of being the best running back in fantasy.

Wide Receiver

Top 10

1. Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams

2. Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings

3. Ja'Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals

4. Davante Adams, Las Vegas Raiders

5. Stefon Diggs, Buffalo Bills

6. CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys

7. Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers

8. Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins

9. Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

10. A.J. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles

Top ADP Value: Michael Pittman Jr., Indianapolis Colts (33, WR12)

Last season felt like something close to a breakout for Pittman.

The then-sophomore posted monster numbers that towered over his rookie production. His touchdowns spiked from one to six. His targets (61 to 129), receptions (40 to 88) and yardage (503 to 1,082) all more than doubled.

And yet, that may not have been his true breakout. He has the talent to engineer another leap forward, particularly given the Colts' change at quarterback from Carson Wentz to Matt Ryan.

Wentz was erratic, but Ryan has proved especially consistent. His numbers finally tailed off in recent years, but only when the Atlanta Falcons had effectively drained the talent pool around him. Give Ryan players to throw to, and he can put up huge numbers. Pittman should be at the center of them, and he could see a similar surge from his rookie-to-sophomore rise.
