Yoo Hoo! Remember LSU? Crazy Les Is Back!
Yoo Hoo! SEC? Were you watching?
Seems LSU has solved the quarterback puzzle, worked out the kinks in the defense, and just served notice that you better not count them out just yet.
I was among the many people who had written off LSU as bumblers, stumblers, and SEC "also ran's". Looking at the end of their regular season, how could you not?
Georgia Tech, on the other hand, was a school that seemed on the upswing. I actually thought LSU could embarrass the SEC.
It didn't hurt that LSU was giving it away as easy as a loose-moraled college girl on a tequila binge, but the Tigers made a statement in making every mistake count.
Les Miles went back to what worked for him during his national championship year. He dug out "Crazy Les" and made it work again. This season when he played like a normal coach and went with the percentages, LSU looked listless.
But "Crazy Les" calls for an onside kick after a score and recovers it, keeping the Tech offense on the bench for just about the entire second quarter.
And the fake punt while ahead and stomping Tech? Tech fans may have booed, but I thought it was "Crazy Les" at his best.
LSU's new QB star, Jordan Jefferson, had to throw in a bit of his own "craziness" with his left-arm-shuttle-pass-toss-to-a-back-over-ten-yards-away-on-the-sideline.
It was a playground masterpiece if I ever saw one.
With all this going on, you just couldn't take your eyes off the game, wondering what would happen next. I was fully expecting the Statue of Liberty play and the Fumblerooski before the night was over.
This staggering beat down of a very good ACC team should send shock waves through the winter and ignite the Bayou Bengal's hopes until the first game.
The SEC should also take notice.
"Crazy Les" is back, and this time I'll bet he's staying.
