UFC 141 Results: Danny Castillo Must Grant Anthony Njokuani Rematch
If Danny Castillo is a true competitor, heโd back up his mouth.
Castillo defeated Anthony Njokuani in a split decision on Friday night in UFC 141.ย You couldnโt call Castillo a fan of the fact that the judges didnโt award him with an outright victory, but he disliked broadcast announcer Joe Rogan making the decision seem controversial even more.
A wise fighter wouldโve just shut his mouth, raised his hands in triumph and smiled for the cameras.ย Castillo didnโt do that, though, as the 32-year old absorbed the circumstances and translated them as disrespect.
According to Dann Stupp and John Morgan of MMAJunkie.com, Castillo asked: โWas that close to you?ย I thought it was a little close but not controversial.โย
I wouldnโt fault Castillo for being disrespected because itโs a key for fighters to have that me-against-the-world attitude to maintain a killer instinct.ย His ability to think before he speaks, though, should be questioned.
Njokuani fought well and deserved consideration for the win.ย After all, it wouldnโt have been a split-decision if someone wasnโt convinced that the fight ended tight.
When Castillo opposed any slight contemplation that he couldโve lost, he may not have meant to come off this way, but I guarantee this is how Njokuani took it: Are you kidding me?ย You think I lost to him?
By showing his disrespect, Castillo disrespected Njokuani.ย Last Call should grant Njokuani a rematch because of that.ย And after all, Castillo can clear up any doubt in UFC fans minds about the fight because after all, it wasnโt that close.
