Loudmouth Sean Avery Rightfully Waived by New York Rangers
The New York Rangers waived troubled forward Sean Avery for the second time this season on Friday, according to Pro Hockey Talk, and it's likely no team will want to claim him off waivers and deal with his drama.
Avery, 31, was also waived in October. It would be shocking if a team claimed Avery off waivers and decided to put up with his antics and lack of production on the ice.
What did the Rangers really expect to get from Avery in his second go-around with the team?

He cannot score, he's annoying, he's a distraction and there's just no purpose to having him on the roster for any type of role.
The only thing Avery is good for at this stage of his career is getting under opponents' skin and just constantly annoying the other team.
He's not as physical as he seems, and most of the league has little or no respect for him. The Rangers have plenty of guys who play with a physical edge that give the team enough toughness on a nightly basis.
There was zero reason for the Rangers to keep him around any longer.
Rangers general manager Glen Sather really made a mistake in bringing Avery back for a second time when the team has younger players who need ice time.
Not that Avery took a ton of ice time away from deserving players, but his spot on the roster should be, and likely will be, filled by a player who will actually have the desire to earn ice time and perform.
Avery hasn't even been part of the Rangers' plans over the last few weeks, evidenced by his nine consecutive scratches.
Who can really blame Rangers head coach John Tortorella for not playing Avery much in his second stint with the Rangers?
Avery clearly hasn't done enough to earn a spot in the lineup, and he only has 21 PIM this season, which suggests he hasn't been as much of a pest on the ice as he usually is. In 15 games this season, Avery has scored just three goals with no assists.
Hopefully the next episode of HBO's 24/7 series highlighting the Rangers' and Philadelphia Flyers' road to the Winter Classic will include Avery's departure from the team, because that could be priceless entertainment.
