What They’re Saying
The decision by the Sugar Bowl to snub such teams as No. 8 Boise State and No. 11 Kansas State has caused plenty of controversy and outrage, but Michigan and Virginia Tech aren't letting the backlash bother team.
Said Virginia Tech safety Eddie Whitley, via ESPN:
""That's the computer's job. They picked us to go there. Fans can talk whatever they want to talk, but we've got to focus on Michigan and be ready."
"
Said Michigan defensive end Ryan Van Bergen:
""We felt we deserved this spot. It's huge. It establishes national relevance for Michigan as a program. It puts us back on the map, so to speak, as a national powerhouse."

Michigan Player to Watch: Denard Robinson, QB
This one's easy.
Denard Robinson has been a captivating player ever since last season when he burst onto the scene. While his numbers have been down a bit since last season, he's still a serious dual-threat, particularly on the ground.
Robinson has passed for 2,056 yards and 18 touchdowns to 14 interceptions, while rushing for 1,163 yards and 16 touchdowns.
In his last game against Ohio State, he passed for 167 yards and three touchdowns, while rushing for 170 yards and two touchdowns.
He's been a huge part of Michigan's rise this season.
Virginia Tech Player to Watch: David Wilson, RB
The ACC player of the year, junior running back David Wilson averaged 125.2 rushing yards per game this season, sixth in the nation.
He's been the catalyst for the Virginia Tech offense and is considered by some to be a first-round prospect in the 2012 NFL draft.
However, Wilson is coming off a season-low 32 rushing yards against Clemson. His lowest mark before that was 82 yards in a game.
Key Matchup: Denard Robinson vs. Virginia Tech defense
The Hokies have allowed just 17.2 points per game this season, good for eighth in the nation. They've been very good against the run and decent against the pass.
Against the multi-threat that is Georgia Tech quarterback Tevin Washington, the Hokies allowed him to post 77 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns, but only 97 passing yards and zero passing touchdowns.
The Hokies are coming off a rough outing against Clemson, getting blasted, 38-0, while allowing Tigers quarterback Tajh Boyd to pass for 240 yards and total four touchdowns.
Prediction: Michigan 30, Virginia Tech 27
