WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair Reacts to Match-Worn Jungle Robe Being on Sale at Auction
Ric Flair is apparently a fan of the eye-popping robe he once wore to the ring being up for sale.
The WWE Hall of Famer posted about the sale on X:
According to Goldin Auctions, the robe comes from Flair's time in NWA.
A prolific worker who was still taking in-ring bumps as recently as two years ago, Flair is considered arguably the greatest all-around wrestler in history. He spent most of the 1970s as the face of southern territorial wrestling, propping up Jim Crockett Promotions and the NWA to rival WWE.
The Four Horsemen stable became synonymous with the NWA, with Flair leading the charge as the best wrestler and talker in the country. Despite the national fame of Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior, Flair was seen as just as important to the growth of the sport during its mid-1980s boom period.
"We were like The Beatles, Elvis and The Rolling Stones all wrapped into one," Flair told Pro Wrestling Stories. "Wrestling was on fire, it was just unbelievable."
Flair joined WWE for the first time in 1991 for a two-year run that ultimately stalled his career for a bit before his triumphant return to WCW in 1993. Back in his comfort zone running with the Horsemen stable and competing against WWE, Flair returned to championship status as a face of the company. He and the Horsemen were part of the face faction pushing against the initial nWo arrival.
Flair won his 15th and 16th world championships during WCW's final years of operation.
A more successful second run in WWE followed beginning in 2001, where he helped form the Evolution stable with Randy Orton and Triple H and had a strong singles run before being "retired" by Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XXIV. While it would mark the end of his in-ring run in WWE, Flair would later appear in TNA from 2010-12 before finally ending his full-time career for good.
In 2022, Flair teamed with Andrade El Idolo to defeat Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett in a one-off pay-per-view special that was dubbed "Ric Flair's Last Match."
He returned to WWE in 2012 on a part-time basis, most notably managing his daughter, Charlotte, in early 2016.
Flair's most recent wrestling appearances came in AEW, where he helped in the build to longtime rival Sting's retirement match.
The bidding for Flair's robe ends August 17.
