Giants vs. Jets: Jacobs Feud with Rex Ryan Furthers Inner-City Rivalry
The New York Giants have played down to their competition all season long. They play their best football when they are motivated.
Boy, were they motivated in their 29-14 victory over the New York Jets on Saturday.
Rex Ryan not only motivates the Jets, but apparently the New York Giants as well. Running back Brandon Jacobs got his say towards Ryan, according to Mike Garafolo of the Star-Ledger, which will take this rivalry to another level.

NFL Draft Trades We Wish Happened 😭

Biggest Questions Surrounding 2026 NFL Season After the Draft 🤔
Nothing like a parting shot after a crucial victory, right?
But, when you run your mouth as much as Ryan does, it’s inevitable that you will hear it in return. When you talk a big game you better be able to back it up. The Giants backed up their talk and the Jets crumbled under the pressure.
The Jets didn’t deserve to a victory over the Giants after three turnovers, all three coming from Mark Sanchez. Whichever team turns the ball over the least tends to win games in the NFL, and the same was proven on Saturday.
Week 16’s game was one of the biggest Giants-Jets games I ever witnessed. Both teams’ seasons would be hurt if they lost but especially the Giants because they were staring at a possible elimination if the Cowboys won out.
The Jets are on the verge of missing the postseason after their loss. It wasn’t as big of a game as the Giants, but it was still important.
These two teams hate each other and it’s evident. It’s great for the NFL. Have them battle over the rights of the stadium every year, but let’s put it on prime time. It truly is great television.
The trash talking made it all the better.
Try to explain the NFC East?
Is there a team that will step to the plate and take over the division? The Philadelphia Eagles had an opportunity to win the division at 8-8 if everything fell into place.
That’s pathetic.
The Giants have the division dead-to-rights in Week 15 but let it slip away after losing to the Washington Redskins 23-10. Their loss marked the second time they lost to the Redskins this year.
Anytime the Giants are either underdogs or in a toss-up game you should expect their best game. They played well against the Green Bay Packers, at Dallas and against the Jets.
This is now the Giants or Cowboys opportunity to win the division. Let's see who steps to the plate.
Where does Ryan go from here?
You know he will get heat for their loss, and he will especially get heat if they were to miss the playoffs.
He should be fine because all he did was take the Jets to back-to-back AFC Championship games. I actually think that Jacobs’ words will motivate the Jets to win for their coach. They realized that they dropped the ball, but the season isn’t over.
Both teams had much to gain and even more to lose on Saturday. It was a game that many will remember and Jacobs’ remarks make for an exciting future showdown.
