WWE News: John Cena Reveals His Thoughts on Newly Released "Cena Sucks" T-Shirts

Drake OzDec 20, 2011

The WWE is really taking advantage of the mixed reaction that John Cena receives at just about every WWE show.

In case you haven’t heard already, the company recently released an anti-Cena t-shirt that reads “Cena Sucks,” acknowledging the fact that “The Champ” probably has just as many haters as he does fans.

The WWE’s decision to release a shirt like this is something we’ve never seen before, and Cena apparently isn’t too thrilled with it.

Check out what Cena wrote on Twitter about the new “Cena Sucks” shirt, courtesy of WrestleZone.com:

John Cena commented on Twitter on the new "Let's Go Cena, Cena Sucks" t-shirt:

"

They have wanted too since 2008. I told them no. Finally I just said I dont care. Im fine with the way things are. Some like me. Some don't

A fan asked Cena if WWE was disrespecting him by releasing the shirt. He replied:

Agreed. But WTF. Ignore it no longer. Its out there so those that wanna be like that should be able to voice their opinion

Another fan asked Cena when WWE was going to release Anti-The Rock t-shirts and he replied:

I can tell u right now....that would never happen

"

I’m not really sure what to make of the WWE releasing a shirt that essentially trashes the company’s top star.

The optimistic side of me thinks that this could be the WWE’s way of slowly building toward a Cena heel turn, with Cena gradually getting more and more furious that the company he works his tail off for is ripping him like this.

But the pessimistic side of me thinks that Cena will never turn heel and that this is just the WWE using Cena’s haters to cash in and make even more money off Cena than it already does.

Either way, though, I like that the WWE is finally acknowledging the clear split among Cena fans and Cena haters and turning it into a storyline.

Regardless of whether this leads to a full-fledged Cena heel turn, it is at least giving a little more depth to Cena’s character that has essentially been exactly the same for the last four or five years. Instead of being the happy-go-lucky superhero that he always is, Cena can actually be a little more human and thus easier to relate to.

What do you guys think? Will the “Cena Sucks” shirt mean anything for Cena in the long run, or is it just another piece of merchandise that the WWE can profit off of?
