Brionte Dunn: 5-Star RB Commits to Ohio State, Will He Start as a True Freshman?

Randy ChambersDec 14, 2011

People who were skeptical about Urban Meyer going to Ohio State and whether he'll be able to turn things around are slowly becoming convinced.

Yesterday, one of the top defensive tackles in the country, Tommy Schutt, switched his commitment from Penn State to Ohio State. Now, a five-star running back in Brionte Dunn has stopped playing with the Michigan Wolverines' emotions and has also become a Buckeye.

In case you're not following what's going on here—Urban Meyer has landed a top player on both sides of the ball in less than 24 hours.

It appeared that Dunn wanted to join the Wolverines and be a part of the things Brady Hoke is doing with them. At the time Urban Meyer joined the Buckeyes, it was almost certain Dunn would join Michigan because he didn't want to play in a spread offense.

But Meyer has been able to do magic before, and he did it again.

“I am officially 150 percent a Buckeye,” Dunn said Tuesday night. “I couldn't be happier, and I feel so great tonight.”

Now that he is officially a Buckeye, there's almost no question he will become the starter this season.

He's a big back at 6'1", 222 pounds, and he has a great combination of size and power. He's a power runner that doesn't have a lot of speed, but he will wear defenses down by the time the second half arrives.

He still needs to improve as a blocker and catching balls out of the backfield, but overall he's a great weapon to add to this offense.

With Dan Herron on his way out, Dunn will do a great job at filling in the void.
