Ndamukong Suh Car Crash: Stars' Lack of Accountability Will Derail Lions

Ndamukong Suh is dooming the Lions to a fate of self-implosion. He is the face and leader of a young team, and he setting a bad tone and example. 

The Lions are currently falling apart from the inside, and given Suh's recent behavior that is no surprise.

Detroit's recent spate of stupid personal fouls, sloppy plays and suspension-worthy behavior has led to many comments not that dissimilar from this one by ESPN's Mark Schlereth:

If the Lions are going to reverse this trend of implosion, it is going to have to start with strong on-the-field leadership. It is going to have to start with Suh, and that is not something he is currently prepared to do.

Suh's Lack of Accountability

Suh came out with one of the all-time lame excuses after he stomped on the arm of a Packers' offensive lineman. Instead of saying he lost his cool, he tried to blame peoples' interpretations of his actions for his suspension.

While serving that suspension, he was involved in a one-car accident. It is now coming out that Suh may have been less than forthright about the circumstances of his wreck.

One of the two women in the crash told KGW, and is quoted by Carlos Monarrez of the Gannett News Services:

"

When the light turned green, he floored it. I just remember going so fast and it was violent and just getting thrown around like rag dolls.

"

Suh had originally told police that he swerved to miss a taxi. The woman did not see the reported taxi. Instead she saw a driver losing control of his car.

She also said that Suh told her he would amend the police report and when he didn't, that is when she came forward.

One of the women was also reported by Monarrez as saying, "I’m hurt and I need to go to the hospital," to Suh following the wreck. To which she said Suh compassionately said, “You’re fine.”

Conclusion

If any of this accounts hold a shred of truth then Suh's accountability is dropping to new lows. His lack of compassion or thought of those around him demonstrates a severe lack of leadership.

And leadership is exactly what this wayward Lions team needs.

In light of recent developments, Suh appears to be the main contributor for this rudderless behavior and not a solution. And as long as the face of the team continues to act with a complete lack of accountability, the Lions have no hope of changing that pattern.
