Floyd Mayweather Puts Pressure on Pac-Man to Deliver Fight of the Century
You can go ahead and quit the debate about who's to blame for the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather fight not coming to fruition.
Mayweather recently did an interview with BoxingSocialist.com and it's clear that "Money" is more-than-willing to fight Pac-Man.
"I just want to get back in the ring and give the fans some more, but May is the date, May 1st or 5th whatever," said Mayweather. "If (you're) the best, take the test."
The clear next step is for Pacquiao to simply take a test. If he agrees to that, and a deal still doesn't happen, then it would be clear Mayweather has some doubts.
But Money seemingly made it a point throughout the interview to note that he was willing to take on anybody, and it's clear that Pacquiao just doesn't scare him.
""You saw the way he fought the other night, that's not the Pacquiao we're used to seeing as of late. Off balance, wild-ish, very very wild. A change in this fight game is happening, something is happening. I can't really say what it is because if I do, you know. For years and years fighters (have) talked trash to each other and after the fight they go their separate ways, but (they're) telling me I'm tarnishing his image, I'm just talking trash having fun, but obviously someone feels there is some truth in what I was saying."
"
Mayweather is clearly someone who likes to talk, so that has to be taken with a grain of salt, but you have to believe he thinks he has the upper hand with Pacquiao.
You have to think he truly wants a shot at Pac-Man.
Still though, the odds of a fight just don't seem promising. Even if Pacquiao agrees, which he seemingly has, Bob Arum has quite the "beef" with Mayweather and he may never give in.
""It’s like this, when I started my career with Bob Arum, I was one of the best fighters, he ever seen. Then when I become my own boss, then I become the scum of the earth to Arum but that's how he feels, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. When I fought Marquez, they said he's over the hill, even though he just beat a fleet of champions. Now he's 39 and Pacquiao fight him it's the greatest thing ever."
"
It's unfortunate, but there seem to be too many barriers for a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight to happen.
One thing is clear, though, Mayweather is ready for it to happen and the proverbial ball is in Pacquiao's court.
