Alternate Career Options for Tennis Stars

Rohini IyerSenior Writer IDecember 19, 2008

This idea struck me just as a fleeting thought so i thought of converting it into an article. I only selected seven players because many were overlapping. Please free to give your comments and as regards the players mentioned, no offense is intended.

                                                                                                                           Andy Roddick

Since Roddick has such a powerful serve, any cricket team in the world would be ready to get their hands on him as an effective fast bowler. I have an inkling, that if he forays into cricket, he sure will smash all the previous records set by the pacers.

                                                                                                                           Marat Safin

Arguing, being his penchant Safin should try and keep an option open in the soccer field. In case any of his team/club mates fail to cut an ice with the referee, Safin can lend an helping hand and prove to be a great asset.

                                                                                                                              Novak Djokovic

With greatly lauded mimicry skills under his belt, Djokovic could be a riot if he decides to debut as a stand-up comedian in television. Language not being a barrier, he could get well connected with the global audience. I am positive he will top the rating charts.

                                                                                                                                  Rafael Nadal

Acting will suit him. With boyish good looks off court which turn immensely predatory and lethal on court, he has a very good chance of handling different genres like drama, romance, action and suspense well. Just needs to work on his English and then he can rule Hollywood too.

                                                                                                                                Justine Henin

Not mocking her personal life, Henin could try her hand being an author. If she does pen her autobiography, I have a feeling she will be as successful as the player she was.

                                                                                                                                           Sania Mirza

Sania could re-invent herself by becoming one of India's most prominent socialites. As it is, she is not new to the public eye so she might as well think about it full time. Not ridiculing her or her fans, she may better in this.

                                                                                                                                             Jelena Jankovic

How about modeling for her? Being the top ranked player, she does have considerable experience about photo shoots and facing the camera. As it happens to be, Jankovic has also shot for a short movie about her life. So she can also turn her attention to acting in the future if she wants to.
