UFC 139 Results: Stephan Bonnar Calls for Rampage, Jackson Says Yes

Patrick DrottarNov 20, 2011

Last night, fight fans witnessed Stephan Bonnar defeat Kyle Kingsbury by unanimous decision at UFC 139. Bonnar, who won his third straight fight, showed that he not only was the better wrestler, but that he could take some punishment as well.

He will need that iron chin if he is given the opponent that he requested at the end of last night's fight.

According to ESPN.com, Bonnar told MMA Weekly last night that he has always wanted to fight Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and would love to fight him in his next fight.

Jackson is currently scheduled to fight in the UFC's first event in Japan since 2000 at UFC 144, but he is without an opponent and was quick to answer Bonnar's request.

UFC President Dana White later revealed that Jackson had texted him about the possibility of the two meeting,

"Rampage texted me tonight and said he wants to fight him too," White said. "I don't know, we'll see."

The turnaround for Bonnar would be a challenge, but after almost a year between his last two fights, the 34-year-old seems like he is ready to get back in the octagon.

Many believed that Jackson would finally get his rematch against Forrest Griffin, the man to take his title away from him in 2008, but it may be the other Ultimate Fighter legend that gets the nod.

One would think that this would be a drop down in competition for the former champion Jackson, but the two have faced similar opponents in the past. Both fighters have battled Forrest Griffin, Rashad Evans and current champion Jon Jones, with neither fighter being victorious.

This could be a very interesting fight for both fighters as Jackson looks to rebound from his loss to Jones and Bonnar looks to make what may be his last attempt to be a contender in the light heavyweight division.
