The whirlwind season of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish continues on Saturday against the Maryland Terrapins. 

Notre Dame is technically the home team in this game, but it is much closer to Maryland's home.

Betting Line

Notre Dame (-21), according to Bodog.

The Fighting Irish are the better team, but whether or not they can be counted on to win by more than 21 points is suspect. They are certainly capable of it, but I don't like that bet.

Remember that while Notre Dame is technically the home team here, the game is being played in Maryland's backyard.

I don't think that pushes them over the top, but 21 points is too much.

Which Notre Dame will show up? That's been a question all year. It won't be any different this weekend.

Who Might Not Play for Maryland?

OL Cody Blue and DL Justin Anderson are questionable.

DL David MacKall, OL Andrew Gonnella, LB Kenny Tate, DB Matt Robinson, DL Isaiah Ross, TE Dave Stinebaugh, and OL Pete DeSouza are out.

Who Might Not Play for Notre Dame?

DE Aaron Lynch is probable.

WR T.J. Jones, LS Jordan Cowart, DE Ethan Johnson, and WR Daniel Smith, are questionable.

WR Theo Riddick and LB Manti Te'o are doubtful.

C Braxston Cave, DE Kapron Lewis-Moore, T Tate Nichols, TE Mike Ragone and S Eiler Hardy are out.

BCS/Top 25 Implications

Neither team will be ranked after this game. Notre Dame has the only real chance at making a BCS game this year. It's doubtful that that will happen. 

If it is going to happen, Notre Dame will need to run the table. that means they need to win here.

Notre Dame defense vs. Maryland's offense. Maryland will only win if it scores a lot of points.

On the Hot Seat

It's hard to see a coach's job on the line. But if Notre Dame doesn't win out until Stanford, Brian Kelly will be on the hot seat in 2012.

The spread will be close, the game won't be. Notre Dame is much better.
