WWE News: Update on Brodus Clay's Re-Debut and Early Plans on How He'll Be Used

The WWE has hyped the re-debut of Brodus Clay for more than a month now, but when the time came for Clay to actually make his return on last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw, it never happened.

In a backstage segment, interim Raw general manager John Laurinaitis said that the fans in Liverpool didn’t deserve to see Clay’s debut and that it should happen in a more important place, a.k.a. America.

But we have the real reason why Clay’s re-debut was scrapped, as well as plans for him when he does finally come back.

While his debut was cut from yesterday’s RAW Supershow due to time constraints, the current plan is to finally re-debut Brodus Clay on next week’s three-hour show. The talk going around is that Clay will be involved in the top storylines on RAW.

It shouldn’t really come as a surprise that Clay’s debut was pushed back because of time constraints. The WWE constantly overbooks its shows with too many segments, and a lack of time is the main reason why “The Michael Cole Challenge” with Jim Ross still hasn’t happened yet.

I just thought that Clay’s re-debut would happen as advertised because—much like F4Wonline.com reports—I figured that Clay would play a big role in the main storylines heading into Survivor Series.

If you think back to the pre-Wrestlemania period, Clay worked in a bodyguard type role for Alberto Del Rio, and he did well there. I think we could see something similar this time around, with Clay either returning as ADR’s bodyguard or perhaps working in a similar role for The Miz and R-Truth.

Judging by Clay’s video package, he will be heel. It’s just unknown whether he’ll be pushed as a singles wrestler or as the backup for some of Raw’s top heels.

Personally, I think the WWE should insert him into a secondary role in Raw’s top angles at first, build him up, help him get over and then have him break away on his own.

Pairing him with Raw’s biggest stars right away will let everyone know that Clay is a big deal.
