Peyton Hillis Reportedly Offered 3-Year Extension by Cleveland Browns
Peyton Hillis finally got what he asked for…sort of.
The Cleveland Browns have offered their disgruntled running back a contract extension according to Tony Zarella of Cleveland’s WOIO Channel 19 Action News:
That’s a slap in the face if you ask me.

The deal is eerily similar to the one linebacker Chris Gocong received just over a month ago. Who is Chris Gocong?
Exactly.
Hillis may only have 211 rushing yards and two TDs on the season, but that offer is incredibly insulting.
The Madden 2012 cover boy had over 1,100 yards last year with 11 TDs as he quickly became the most marketable player on the Browns.
Hillis hasn’t signed the deal because of the disagreement with the guaranteed money involved.
Gocong got $8 million guaranteed and if Hillis doesn’t get at least $12-15 million…this deal is incredibly insulting.
Clearly the Browns have absolutely no offensive spark without him and are in danger of completely falling off the map in the next few weeks if Hillis doesn’t return soon. The Browns offense is embarrassingly bad without him, especially now that Montario Hardesty is injured.
If I’m Hillis I tell the Browns to up the offer or else.
Sure smaller and faster running backs are a dime a dozen, but Hillis is a unique player. Nobody in the league runs with the sort of power and determination that Hillis does. His goal line and short yardage value is off the charts as well.
His value on the open market would be much higher with all 32 teams getting into a bidding war.
Hillis should take this low-ball offer to heart and tell them to take a hike. With all of the odd controversy already engulfing the situation, get the heck away from a franchise that has proven to be inept time-and-time again since returning to the NFL.
Hillis deserves better.
