Josh Koscheck and the 5 Most Fearless Fighters in MMA
Mixed martial arts fans across the globe were once again reminded how fearless some of the sport's fighters truly are after George St. Pierre withdrew from his championship bout at UFC 137.
It wasn't St. Pierre who showed fearlessness, but Josh Koscheck.
With just a little over a week remaining until UFC 137 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Koscheck tweeted UFC president Dana White, volunteering to step in and fight Carlos Condit.
But Koscheck isn't the only fearless fighter in MMA today.
The following slides display the top five fearless fighters in the sport today.
Let's take a look.
5. Chris Leben
1 of 5One thing's for sure about Chris Leben, he's downright fearless.
Since entering the UFC, Leben has done everything the UFC has asked of him, including taking fights on short notice.
Leben fears no one, including Anderson Silva, despite being knocked out by him at a Fight Night in 2006.
To add on to his fearlessness, Leben stated he enjoys getting punched in the face.
Why?
Because it turns on a light switch in his head. Sounds pretty fearless to me.
4. Nick Diaz
2 of 5If you can overlook Nick Diaz's stupidity at times, you'll come to realize the guy is pretty darn fearless.
A former Strikeforce fighter and now a UFC product, Diaz's attitude and fighting style has put him in a class of his own.
Diaz showed his fearlessness when he squared off with Paul Daley at a Strikeforce event prior to making his transition to the UFC.
Diaz swung for the fences the entire first round of action before knocking out Daley with just three seconds remaining in the frame.
3. Josh Koscheck
3 of 5Josh Koscheck recently revealed how fearless he is when he tweeted Dana White and offered to step in to fight Carlos Condit at UFC 137.
The thing that makes this situation different than most is the fact Koscheck volunteered to step in with just a little over a week until the bout would take place.
White responded to Koscheck's fearlessness by Tweeting, "@joshkoscheck gotta respect Kos offering to fight Condit on a week notice. I respect the s--- outta u Josh! He's waitin 4 GSP tho"
Koscheck is unarguably one of the most fearless fighters in MMA today.
2. Wanderlei Silva
4 of 5Wanderlei Silva may be on the down slope of his UFC career, but that doesn't stop him from being one of the most fearless fighters in MMA today.
Known for his extremely dangerous knockout power, Silva hardly ever finds himself awaiting a decision from the judge's scorecards.
Silva displayed how fearless he actually is when he squared off with UFC legend Chuck Liddell at UFC 79, which would later go down as MMA's Fight of the Year.
Silva's fighting style and reputation has been known as fearless since entering the sport of mixed martial arts in November of 1996.
1. BJ Penn
5 of 5BJ Penn is undeniably one of the most fearless fighters in mixed martial arts today.
Penn's entire career is recognized as fearless because his fighting spirit and style has allowed him not only to become one of the greatest fighters of all time, but one of the most appreciated as well.
The "Prodigy" has never turned down a fight and has fought some of the greatest fighters on Earth.
Not to mention, Penn has squared off with Lightweight, Welterweight and even Middleweight opponents throughout his MMA career.
