Freddie Roach to Choose Manny Pacquiao If He Faces Amir Khan Next

Manny Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, was once opposed to Pacquiao (53-3-2, 38 KOs) facing his other pupil, Amir Khan (26-1, 18  KOs). Now, Roach sees an inevitability to this matchup if Pacquiao keeps demolishing his competition.

Roach told Boxing Scene how he feels about a potential Pacquiao-Khan matchup. Roach said, "I wouldn't want that to happen, but Pacquiao is running out of opponents, and Pacquiao and Amir would sell."

He then answered the next question likely on everyone's mind at that moment, "I wouldn't want to see that fight happen, but if that fight ever happened, I would end up in Manny's corner. Manny is my guy."

Manny Pacquiao faces Juan Manuel Marquez (53-5-1, 39 KOs) on November 12 in a third match of their epic trilogy in hopes of shutting up the brash Mexican legend once and for all.

Afterwards, assuming a Pacquiao victory is attained, many have pointed to the newest member of Top Rank Promotions, Timothy Bradley (27-0, 11 KOs).

He's a speedy, smart, undefeated fighter with youth and ambition, but Roach doesn't seem impressed or feel that Bradley would be worthy.

According to Ring Magazine, Roach said the following about Bradley: "I know that Tim Bradley wouldn't fight Amir Khan. So now, all of a sudden, he's in position to fight Manny Pacquiao because he signed with Bob Arum?"

Regardless, Roach isn't worried about Bradley. He gave predictions on a Bradley fight, saying: "Either way, I really don't care. Tim Bradley ducked one of my guys, Amir Khan, and he would get knocked out by my other guy, Manny Pacquiao."

The only suitable rival according to most media outlets and boxing fans is undefeated WBC welterweight world champion Floyd Mayweather (42-0, 26 KOs).

Mayweather and Pacquiao have failed to negotiate at least twice before, and whether or not the third time will be a charm will have to wait until after Pacquiao-Marquez III.

But should those negotiations fail once again, as many are already predicting, and Khan keeps his winning ways while continuing to look even more impressive with each win, a Pacquiao vs Khan fight will gain enough momentum to become a lucrative reality.
